Staying in this beautiful trulia was the most beautiful place we stayed in out two week tour of the area. The garden is tranquil completely harmonious with the rolling hills and long views. Breakfast was delicious as was our peaceful nights sleep.
It was a wonderful opportunity to stay in an actual trullo, which had been lovingly restored by the owner. The attractive property was in a pastoral setting with a comfortable garden and terrace. Breakfast was prepared and served every morning by the owner, who so obviously enjoyed being a host to his guests, without being intrusive. The photos on the website were a very accurate representation of the rooms and property. There was also plenty of easy parking.
Mein host is very nice and aims to please. The accommodation is not airconditioned but the Trulli architecture truly (sorry) kept the temp down in quite hot weather. Breakfast was pleasant if somewhat limited. It is hard to find but I followed instructions of previous reviewer and it worked, but you have to keep your wits about you. Late night arrival may be problematic. It was quiet and rustic, so just the tonic I needed personally. A car seems essential unless an avid cyclist.
Hugo, the proprietor, was a pleasant individual. Accommodations were country and a bit off the beaten path. Very relaxing with nice fellow patrons and a short drive to local city life.
Inspired choice, handy for exploring the area. Martina Franca particularly good. Ask Hugo for his recommendation of fish restaurant..excellent.
Next years plan for a small swimming pool will make this even more attractive, which is a double edged sword for those who want avoid it becoming too popular.
Good for couples and families.
A big thank you to Hugo.
At Trulli Gallo Rosso you are staying in a trulli structure dating from 1088. The accommodations are wonderful with all the modern amenities one expects. The host, Hugo is very friendly and helpful. One caution. It is rather remote and not easy to find. Located on SR56, we tried going SR58 to SR56 out of Martina Fr. which on a map looked easy. NOTHING is well marked. Almost 2 hours later a salesman at a VW dealrshp led us out to SR58. We found SR56 off this, but many km out we weren't sure and had to ask for help. Suggestion: do not try this out of Martina Franca unless VERY familiar with the area. The easiest is from the north and the town of Noci. Coming from Alberobello on well marked SS604, you take SS604 west to Noci. Look for yellow and black "zona industriale" sign right at the exit. Take this exit, go round a small rotary and go straight. At first set of lights take a left heading south. A sign may indicate you are on SP34. A road will go off to the right, bear to the left. You are on SP56. Its about 8-9 km out on this road. Pass a couple of small crossroads. Watch for B&B sign on your left. Going back out the same way north towards Noci, one of the crossroads will have a sign pointing to Alberobello to the right. Ignore. It's a few km longer going back to Alberobello by Noci, but you won't get lost. Trulli Gallo Rosso is well worth the effort. You will not regret it. The most unique stay of our trip through southern Italy and the friendliest host.
we enjoyed our stay immensely. hugo and his mom are amazing hosts. the gardens are splendid, with beautiful fruit trees. we feel very lucky to have found this place!
We had booked what we thought was a trullo room (based on the only photos posted on expedia) for one special night in a Trullo. We received an email the day before arrival from "Hugo" that he had changed our booking. When we arrived at the location in the email, we found that he had switched us to a random, multi-story 1980s hotel (where a tourbus was staying) with a very disappointing 1980's room (no flatscreen TVs, no exposed brick, nothing like what was in the photos). Not comparable to what was in the booking photos. Photos are attached. Hugo tried to blame us over email that we did not book a trullo but simply a plain room. Even so, the plain room that he put us in was nothing like the room we saw online when we booked the reservation. He did nothing to fix this problem. I would NEVER book with him again and quite frankly, the fact that he did not make this change through expedia and just did it himself makes me question the trust expedia put in him. I have never written a bad review, but this experience was horrible. I would be very nervous to book with this person again and could not recommend it to anyone.
One of the truly best places to stay. Very beautiful setting and excellent family run operations. Every need is met with great enthusiasm. The groups are landscaped with very unique items of the area. Rooms were very clean and staying in a renovated Trulli houses was a thrill
This is truly an unique and awesome B&B. The Trulli style building is very rustic and cosy, our suite has a living room, a small den, the bedroom and the bathroom. Each room is clean and nicely decorated. There are tables and chairs in the patio so you can sit outside and admire the lovely garden. Hugo is very friendly and helpful. We would come back if we traveled to this area again.
Great B&B with a great host :)
We will come back for sure.
The location is amazing, you can travel easily from one town to another by staying here and your B&B host always has great recommendations for anywhere you go. I highly recommend this place to everyone!
Well restored Trulli with plenty of space . Tastefully furnished but could have benefited from a small fridge . Rural location in unspoilt countryside . Very pleasant gardens to relax in . Be prepared to drive a few miles to eat in the evening and take Ugos advice ( very good ) .
The hotels grounds and room (restored Trulli) are really beautiful, and so is the surrounding area - open fields all around. Everything well maintained and very tasteful. Breakfast was very good and served in a very nice space. One thing I dod not like is that we were offered additional coffee during breakfast and only on check-out found out that we were charged for it. WiFi did not reach the room, only the public area, and at one time Internet was down and there was no one from the staff around. It is about 10 minutes drive to the closest town (the Trulli town Alberobello) where there are many places to eat.
Our room was in one of several restored Trulli on a beautifully landscaped site set in the midst of active farms. Our host, Hugo was terrific and very helpful in suggesting the best places to see. The stone and tile work in our room was as good as we have seen anywhere in Europe.
