Beautiful view of the nearby mountain. Interesting short trail through the ravine to an old mine behind the large field. (Saw an echidna, a pademelon and many birds.)
The ducks and native hens and other inhabitants of the pond and field provided endless entertainment. At dusk, dozens of small marsupials came out for us to watch.
Nearby was a much longer trail up the mountain. We did not go all the way up, but spent quite a while walking there.
Cradle Mountain was over the ridge, an "interesting" drive about 50 minutes (driving slowly) away, and was fantastic, even the white-lipped whip snake and especially the wombats.
Food and gas were about 20 minutes away, in Sheffield, and almost all restaurants were closed at dinner time. One night we went all the way to Devonport where we found an excellent Chinese restaurant, China Garden.
