My husband and I had a romantic stay. The hot tub was so nice. The room was beautiful. I loved the door going out to walk my dog. There are private areas for guests outside. I would definitely recommend Callahan’s, and would stay again!
My husband and I stayed here for two nights. We got the big room wifh the hot tub and the fireplace. Accomodation was great. Clean, quiet. The staff was really helpful. We had dinner and drinks at the restaurant and food was fresh and yummy! If we were to come back for leisure to Ashland we would DEFINITELY come to this stay. The staff was friendly and great communicators.
Two mornings very little to no breakfast
Noise on ceiling in our room very bad from 6:30am to 10:30 pm when dinning room/bar closed. One night was woke up by noise in dinning room. Room cleaned only one time. Horrible tv buffering in room. Unable to watch football game. Way under staff.
So I picked the room because it was accessible room however it was an EXTREMELY long hallway to get to the room (needed three rest). The accessibility for the room was grab bars in the bath and shower. The room had that 1960s charm but not very clean. The hallway rug was filthy. Did not hear a vacuum in the whole time we were there or see a housekeeper.
Decided to order room service and was told their fryer was down, okay. Ordered shrimp cocktail mix salad and shrimp fettuccine. Later got a call said out of stuff for shrimp cocktail so we asked if we could just have thousand Islander instead of cocktail sauce then they called back and said they had no shrimp for shrimp cocktail so I ordered spaghetti. They delivered the food which was the spaghetti and salad. We asked about the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. They said oh we forgot. They left us a food with no silverware and no flavoring like salt or pepper the spaghetti look like soup and was awful. Had fettuccine noodles in it and again no salt or pepper then his fettuccine came. It had shrimp but looks like the shrimp you would put in a shrimp cocktail not a grilled shrimp on a grill and again the fettuccine needed much more seasoning than was delivered. Please know we are not picky people but this was the worst we’ve had in a really long time
We were really looking forward to celebrating our anniversary at Callahan Lodge Jan 11-12th but unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. The room was quite dirty—there was something splattered all over the ceiling, mirrors in bathroom were not cleaned, the microwave was unclean with food left in it, and the carpet had clearly not been vacuumed. To make matters worse, the towels appeared to have been used, which was very off-putting.
The food was also underwhelming, which added to our disappointment. I ordered shrimp Alfredo that tasted like white cheddar cheese and my husband beer glass was dirty. For a place with such potential, we were hoping for a much better experience. Cleanliness and quality are basic expectations, especially for the price and occasion. We’re sad to say we wouldn’t recommend Callahan Lodge based on this stay. This was not our first stay at this location but sadly could be our last. Hopefully this review will be taken in consideration to fix the issues at what could be such an amazing place.
What an incredible find - we absolutely loved our stay and it was just what we needed after a long trip down the I-5. We arrived 5 minutes after the kitchen closed for dinner, which leads to my only recommendation for improvement. We had breakfast the next day, which was SO yummy - clearly you have some wonderful kitchen personnel. Maybe consider some cheese/fruit platters or even sandwiches in your snack shop? I would have paid just about anything to avoid returning to town or resorting to the ramen we made do with.
Bed was cozy, fireplace was charming, jetted tub was romantic. We will definitely seek you out the next time we pass your way, but we'll come before dinner closes!
Apon entering the room there was black dog fur and paw prints all over the bed. Staff said it is probably the maintenance man's dog and assured the sheets were changed. I pulled back the blankets and the sheets were worse. My dinner was horrible. I tried to play it safe and get salad but there was so much Ceasars on it the whole salad was white. I couldn't eat it and she refused to take it off my bill. I asked for bread and she said, "I was going to bring you bread earlier but I thought screw it". I will never be back!
We stayed in a luxury king room for two days. The room was beautifully set up, and everything was clean. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. The same could not be said about the restaurant staff as we stood waiting to be seated without being acknowledged for so long that we chose other dining options. The second night, we ordered room service from the restaurant and received their famous stroganoff, which came with noodles overcooked and a New York strip that was over seasoned and felt like the chef dusted the steak with seasoning after it was grilled. The food experience was subpar for the price. The bed was uncomfortable and didn't have a consistent firmness. Some areas of the bed were softer than others. Both my partner and I woke up with back pain. The balcony was shared with other guests, and though we are non-smokers, there were tons of cigarette butts outside our room doorway. Having a wood burning fire place in the room made the visit feel warm and outdoorsy. It would be easy to spend a quite weekend alone with a loved on at this lodge.

Historic unique property with nice restaurant and bar. However I was not happy about our room being directly under the restaurant and therefore too noisy with footsteps and furniture moving right over our heads. That was a major disappointment
Too close to the highway.
Other than that beautiful, relaxing, and great value.
Very impressed

Very cool romantic property. Dog friendly. Great restaurant and food. Our Jacuzzi room exactly under the restaurant so a bit noisy at times. Jacuzzi jets can’t be turned on
