Hazelwood Cottage is a charming two-storey farmhouse offering self-contained accommodation, fully equipped for a comfortable and relaxed holiday. It was designed with consideration of people with disabilities, including those who need high care, but is also an ideal getaway for most small groups, couples and families.
The house features wide doors and stepless access to the downstairs area and garden. Bathrooms have rails, raised toilets, and stepless showers with wall seats. The dining room table has a large overhang for wheelchairs. Four adjustable hospital beds (some with rails and monkey bars, including one hi-lo bed) are available, and much of the garden is accessible, including a 110-meter asphalt path through trees and flowering shrubs.
Features:
• 5 bedrooms downstairs, sleeping up to 11 guests, with a variety of bed types including single beds (4 hospital-type and adjustable, one hi-lo), double beds, and a set of bunks.
• 3 bathrooms downstairs, one with a small bath, and a separate toilet in the laundry.
• 3 cots and 2 highchairs are available. Comfortable beds with pillows, woollen blankets, doonas, electric blankets. Linen and towels can be hired with the option to make up the beds yourself or have them made up for an extra charge.
• A large, well-equipped kitchen with full utensils, large oven, dishwasher, and beautiful views of the distant mountains.
• The dining and living area features a large table, lounge chairs, and a cozy wood fire. The house also has 2 reverse cycle air conditioners, fans, and extra heaters.
• Balconies and verandahs provide a place to relax while overlooking an expansive garden of rhododendrons, azaleas, waratahs, and proteas to name a few. A gas BBQ and fire-pit are available on the front verandah.
• For Guests with Disabilities the house includes several features to make the stay stress-free, such as a hoist (BYO sling), wheelchair, walking frame, and access to the garden and paths.
• A recreation room attached to the house has toys, a table-tennis table, and serves as a fly-free eating area during summer.
• Beyond the beautiful garden, enjoy walks through a forest, past two spring-fed dams, and into fern gullies with spectacular views. The trail leads to the Yarra Ranges National Park and O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail—ideal for hiking and biking.
• The scenic township of Warburton is just 6 kilometers away, offering shops, cafes, restaurants, and outdoor activities. Nearby attractions include The RedWood Forest, Lotus Garden, Healesville Sanctuary, Yarra Valley wineries, Puffing Billy, and more.
• The house offers a DVD player and a selection of DVDs, board games, books, and a popular pianola.
• There’s also a large wired-in recreation room with toys and a table-tennis table, which doubles as a fly-free eating area in summer.
Bedroom Configurations:
• Bedroom 1: Double bed, opposite the laundry with a small bath, shower recess with fold-down seat and rails.
• Bedroom 2: Single bunks and 1 single bed.
• Bedroom 3: Double bed (high), ensuite accessible bathroom.
• Bedroom 4: 1 manual hospital-type adjustable bed with monkey bar and rails, 1 electric hospital-type hi-lo bed. Shares large accessible ensuite with Bedroom 3. Access to the balcony.
• Bedroom 5: 2 hospital-type beds with rails (one electric) and one with monkey bar, ensuite accessible bathroom. Access to the balcony.
• Bedroom 6 (upstairs): 3 standard height single beds, ensuite (toilet and shower).
• Bedroom 7 (upstairs & separated from 6 with a curtain): 1 queen bed (standard height), shares ensuite with Bedroom 6. Access to balcony and outside stairs.
