Nice Hotel
Very firm bed. Minimal items in room. Excellent deal overall. Good food (ask for meal ticket the day before you will eat). Seems to be very popular with local police (was good).

Re muy seguro para las personas y sus vehículos, y queda muy cerca a paseo Montejo. No me gustó el será de comedor, es muy incómodo, y no dan buenas opciones.

False Advertisement, No Ac No Hot water
I choose this hotel specifically because it has the Bath Tub in room. When I arrive to the hotel NONE of the rooms have this option.. but I had already traveled all the way here so I committed. Two other major problems aside from the hotel lying about an amenity they didn’t have. The AC did not work! Uncomfortable all night The Hot water wasn’t HOT!! couldn’t even shower... at least there wasn’t bugs in the bet.

Bar The Zar
This is a completely bare bones hotel. If you have no other options, I suppose you could survive, but if you want to be comfortable: choose anywhere else. Stains on the curtains, toilet wouldn't flush (and not repaired), no water available in the ENTIRE hotel (told to walk several blocks to convenience store), bed was like a brick and nothing but white cement walls. Not surprisingly, they wouldn't refund my second night.

Great clean hotel with breakfast for a very inexpensive stay great area. Only thing is there is no towels in the room you have to ask at the reception. I totally recommend this hotel!

Great place and very close to the scenic Paseo Montejo and also near the route to Puerto Progreso. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Only issue i had was the a/c unit from the initial room given to me. For those folks that are not fans of humidity overnight, you may have to test out the ac unit prior to fully accepting the room.

Great hotel and staff, spotless, privacy issue
My husband and I loved everything about our stay at Hotel Zar except for one issue- there's no privacy in the bathroom. The bathroom has a glass door that doesn't reach the ceiling or the floor and there's no fan to muffle the noise. We ended up throwing a towel over the door and turning on the shower when we were using the bathroom so that we had at least a little privacy. For married couples that's probably fine, but I wouldn't recommend staying in the same room with someone who's just a friend.

Fine Hotel but Not the Best Location
The staff was very helpful with some issues we had that were not hotel related. We were very comfortable, but would rather have been in a more central location. Unfortunately, nothing was available.

Basic hotel.
Location was good. Lacks a few amenities like shower floor mat and basin hand towel. We stayed on the 5th floor and the street noise can be heard. Ok for a short trip.

One Star Hotel Zar
No phone in room, no coffee maker in room, very poor WIFI strength in room, very poor supply of hot water in room, very poor lighting in room, no hand towels supplied, bathroom door wouldn't close, king size bed was actually two double beds pushed together, no desk, no dresser, no drawers. The "restaurant" had the same boring fixed breakfast every morning (it was not a buffet and was not free for those that booked their room online). The halls and elevator were not air conditioned. The room keys had to be reprogrammed every couple of days. There were yappy dogs in another room on our floor. We packed up & moved to another hotel with 2 days left on our 20 day stay. It is not some place you want to be if you are recovering from an operation.

Good Choice
Overall, a great stay. I did have concerns with the toilet tank that took forever to fill up again. There was none to very limited hot water. The service at the front desk was excellent!
