I am so incredibly disappointed in my most recent stay at the Kimpton Palomar hotel in Miami Beach. I have stayed here multiple times, mainly because we love the location and the rooftop pool deck. Unfortunately, this most recent trip was a disaster. Originally I booked the room through Expedia prepaid from Fri-Mon. I then was able to take an additional day away, so I booked Thursday through my IHG rewards points.
Upon check in, I was asked to swipe my card once for $150 for the first night hold, and then again for $300 incidentals for the remainder of the stay. The concierge was kind as to only hold $300 for the last 3 nights.
The next day, in the lobby I was approached because there was some sort of system failure and they wanted to swipe my card again for the incidentals. When I checked my credit card transactions, I realized there were THREE debits made by Kimpton. One for $150, one for $300 and another mystery charge of $200. It was explained to me that somehow, even though I prepaid through Expedia the computer got confused and automatically charged me for a night with my card on file. This seemed really strange and upsetting. I have been assured that all of these charges will be credited back to my card, although I do not see anything credited back as of today.
This is highly highly disappointing and stressful, especially when the purpose of the trip is to have a relaxing beach weekend. We wasted so much time on this back and forth being stressed
