This property was just ok, I wouldn't stay there again though. The toilet would not flush if someone else was flushing the toilet. The property is old and you can tell. The lamp and trash can showed signs of rust. One or two good things, was that the water was hot and the staff was nice.
The staff is fantastic and I was greeted warmly. The rooms are all new. It’s obvious they’re still upgrading the grounds. Adding some umbrella tables in the courtyard would be useful and aesthetically give it some pizazz. The sound barriers between rooms are poor, but I still gained a good night’s sleep.
The room was clean.
The noise at night was awful and the person above me walked all night long, you can literally hear everything the walls are paper thin. The noise didn't end until late into the night. The phone in the room was plugged in but not working, no dial tone or anything, so if you needed to call staff you can forget about it, which didn't matter anyways because there's no staff after 8 or 9 p.m. It was inexpensive to stay here and that was definitely a factor for me booking a room. But this is not a hotel more like a motel that offers extended stays to locals. Not really recommended for single women who are security conscious, the door to the room opens outward.
There was cockroaches in our room. They peaked in the door before entering to show us the room which through us off right away. We refused to stay there and still have not received a refund.
The Biscayne was a simple, classic updated hotel that is clean, affordable and has the right amenities for your stay!! The staff is very friendly and helpful!! The park across the street is beautiful; with easy access to the bay!! Public transportation to downtown is steps away. There are local restaurants and shops!! I highly recommend The Biscayne!!
It's a motel rather than a hotel but there's a gate that locks and stops entry to the rooms without a key. The staff were absolutely brilliant and really lovely. The motel is a little ramshackle and run down in parts. If you are very noise sensitive it might not be for you. I loved it, it was a great experience.
Photos of the motel were misleading. The rooms appear to have been recently remodeled and was, overall, in good condition. The area does not appear to be very safe place to be.
There was only one person at the checkin desk and she appeared to he overwhelmed. She did offer to show us to our room, but we declinded due to other guests waiting to check in. Parking was extremely limited. We took an Uber, which appeared to be the way other guests arrived as well. No coffee maker in the room, which was disappointing. I anticipated one since there is a mini fridge and microwave. Hair dryer has to he obtained from the front desk. This was a big inconvenience since the front desk closes at night and doesn't open until 9am. This put us behind schedule since it was needed to get ready. In the reception area there are several security screens; however there is no one to monitor them, especially at night.
The bathroom has a window which was unblocked and it was not possible to lock it.
The beds were terrible! Worst night's sleep in quite a while. TV channel selections were fine. King size bed with only two pillows. We had to request more.
The photos make it appear as if the restaurant, Blue Collar, is on property. It looks like it might have been at some point, but it is across 4 lanes of traffic. The food and service at the restaurant was great!!
