Talk about making some memories! Don't forget Fido, the fenced in side yard and the pet friendly deck will allow your furry family member to enjoy their getaway as much as everybody else!

Now, let's talk about this fabulous River! The Toccoa is known for it's trophy trout and is stocked several times during the year. But fishing isn't all it's know for. Whether you've come to fish, tube, raft or just enjoy being by the water, you've come to the right place. For those that want to fish but not get wet, not a problem. The deck overhanging the river allows for convenient fishing and the fire pit at riverside along with picnic table and grassy area, provides the perfect place to spend an afternoon in the fresh mountain air.

Great River Retreat!
We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Taccoa River Getaway. The setting is beautiful and the cabin is nicely decorated with plenty of room inside and lots of deck space to relax. We thought the beds and furniture were comfortable. The river front space is gorgeous. One thing to be aware of is how many steps there are from the back deck to the river front space. My son and I counted about 80 stair steps. If you want to fish you’ll likely need to wade out to the middle of the river so you can cast without snagging brush. The water is shallow and pretty calm. The dam did a release in the early evening both nights but the water level would go down by the morning. My husband and son caught a ton of fish and really enjoyed fishing. We brought our dog and the fenced in area was great for her. You’ll need to bring basic food items like cooking spray for pans, coffee, salt and pepper etc. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return!

It was good
We enjoyed our stay at this property but a few things could be improved. There is no access to get into the river, we had to use the neighbors steps. The driveway access is a very steep gravel road and the renter should be informed of this ahead of the stay. I had to call the property management twice in order to get code access before check in and I didn’t receive communication outside of my calling and bugging. All and all it was a good trip.

Fish Trap and River Bound
First off, I’ve wanted to stay on Fish Trap for years. The view is amazing. What doesn’t match with the description is the height of the property to the location of the river. From the porch to the water is connected with about 150 steps top to bottom…Not across the road as the pictures might depict. No big deal…we made due. Awesome property for small dogs with its own gated area for pet release without fear they will run off. Kudos on the fenced in area for pets. The rooms were nice; two king suites turned out nice. Beds are stiffer than we like, but made for some restful nights. As for the third sleeping area, down stairs amongst the pool and ping pong tables… we didn’t have a third adult couple like we hoped, but if we had, they would have been disappointed with a twin/double bunk bed. Space is large enough for a king…so why not replace the “kid vibe” and create an all around adult retreat? Can’t complain about the TVs and other amenities…all acceptable. As to the furniture in the main living area…..the leather loungers are so “relaxed” you have the strain your neck just to see straight. Loved the gas logs…used them nightly. Let’s talk about that sofa…. Rickety and almost fell apart and likely the most uncomfortably hard seating ever. Also, the lamps were practically falling over and falling apart. If I were to own this house, I’d have top notch furniture and lighting so there’s no question you’re in a four star resort. 3.5 stars; improve furniture-4.5 stars, ez.

Great Cabin
The house was just perfect except for the access to the river which did not exist. I did ask and was given the answer that we could park down by the river and would be able to put our kayaks in the water there. You had no room or access to park by the river. And no access to the river. It is located directly on the river but it did not provide a way into the water. The bank was too steep and too far down to the water. But overall the house is wonderful and we loved it. We just had to go about a mile down the road to a public access point to put our kayaks in the water. The house was wonderful and clean and had a great view!!

Clean but uncomfortable
The property was clean and was an okay place to stay. The drawbacks were that the furniture and beds were very uncomfortable and the kitchen is unorganized and the oven doesn’t work very well. Also, the walk down to the creek is very steep and not easy to get to. It is a communal dock and the pictures are probably from when they first started renting because it is now very unkept. We left a day early due to the main floor master bed being uncomfortable.

Great for decompressing
We had a great time at Toccoa River Getaway. Cabin is well maintained and clean. The driveway is a bit of an adventure but nothing crazy. The kitchen is well stocked and the TVs are outstanding in the main and upper level (the basement TVs could use an upgrade). Speaking of the basement, the game area is great with a ping pong table and a pool table. Location is good as well - it really is about 15 minutes to downtown Blue Ridge. While the river is technically across the street, there is only the road between the cabin and the deck on the river. Yes, there are quite a few stairs but this is a mountain area - you're going to have that. Fireplace put out great heat - definitely kept us warm during the freezing weekend. It's gas logs so while you miss out on the ambience of a good wood log fire, it's also instant on, instant off - for our FL friends that stayed with us, they definitely preferred that. Only thing to note is that the pictures show two sofas in the living room positioned to view the TV nicely. This has been changed - there is only one sofa and two recliners, with the recliners not in position to view the TV. We had to move them to a better position. Not a huge deal - just something to know. We had a great 4 days here and would easily go back.

Decent place to stay but needs some things updated or replaced
We enjoyed our stay. A few things..the mattresses are uncomfortable in the entire place and seating is uncomfortable in the living room. The carpet on the bottom floor needs cleaned. Also the picture that shows the fire pit and deck down by river is actually the next door neighbors property; there is one that belongs to the cabin but does not look like the one next door featured in photos

Great house - tough driveway
The house was great. Well stocked with things to do and a good layout. The temperature differential between the top floor and the bottom was notable. The driveway access was precarious and turnaround was limited up top and not available on the bottom drive. The distance from the house to the river was not as clear in the description as the actual. Not really an issue though. The dam release schedule does impact fishing at the deck down by the river. Overall, still a very good house and trip.

Toccoa River Get a Way
Property needs work. AC will not cool home regardless of how you "set" the thermostat. Oven does not work. Was told to "park by the river" if needed only to find bushes and fences impeding the ability to "park" unless you have a bicycle!!!

Place isn't like it used to be
This was our third stay at the property over 10 years. When we first visited, it was clean, fresh and well kept. The last time we were there was 6 years ago. It was in pretty good shape however this time, the landscaping was completely overgrown, the exterior decking, stairs and house is in need of repair, restraining. The beds downstairs are very uncomfortable. They are old spring mattresses that were to the point our sons decided to opt for the floor in lieu of the bed. Only one pan was in usable condition. The others were covered with exposed teflon flakes and rust. Some of the dishes were put away dirty. One thing to note, the driveway is very steep so if you do not have 4 wheel drive, your car will slip as it attempts to leave. We will not be back

Weekend getaway
The pictures on VRBO showing the cabin were obviously taken a long time ago. The pictures were not accurate. The couches were different than shown in the pictures. The outside deck area was weathered. While we had a great time, we were hoping for something a little newer. The cabin is older and needs some updating.

Great weekend getaway
We had a wedding to attend in Blue Ridge and rented the cabin for the weekend. The weather was perfect and the cabin was cozy with great views. The only downside for me, that was out of the owners control was the dam release schedule. We only had an hour each morning to fish before the water got too high and fast for the rest of the day. This also prevented the kids from playing in the water. I did check the TVA website, so I was prepared. The directions were easy to follow and it was just a short drive back into town. Overall we had a great weekend.

Was not what we were expecting! Would not recommend!!!
Toccoa River Getaway needs a major updating! When we pulled into the driveway, the first thing I noticed was the outside of the house needed a good pressure washing, very dirty looking. Kitchen, tile flooring, and carpeting needs updating. Out of the three bathrooms, two of them had leaks, light bulbs out all over, track lighting that blinked constantly. All den and game room furniture needs replacing. No where to sit comfortably. TV's were a joke. The bedroom TV had to watch what the den tv was watching, and the den tv's volumn was stuck or broken, couldn't lower nor raise the volume. No dining table, just two high tables. Game room is a joke! Pool table is worn out and tilts, so it's not level. Ping Pong table was fine, but the paddles were torn up. Game room tv was an old box tv with no service to it. You could only watch dvd's. Several of the board games that were there had missing pieces. The only good thing I can say about Toccoa River Getaway is the screened in back porch was wonderful with great views of the river! I would not recommend this place to anyone until it gets a major renovation or updating.

Meh. .
I'll start with the good, the location on the river is great. Caught a few trout. Only about a 15-20 minute drive into Blue Ridge. Check-in was easy and the property was clean. The property is definitely in need of some TLC for the price you pay. Floors are well worn. Furniture and bedding is on the budget side for the price you pay for the cabin. Landscaping has not been kept up with. Lots of unmaintaned growth that blocks the nice view from the river. I also that it was annoying and unprofessional that the "landscaper" showed up the morning before we checked out, blowing leaves, while we were trying to enjoy our last few hours there. Very unprofessional to have someone walking around the back decks when my wife came out of the shower.
