When chucking a sickie becomes way too simple, it's time to escape the corporate cubicle and say hello to Mitan!

It's located 140 kilometres to the east of Seoul, the capital city of South Korea.

You won't need to be stuck inside a car all day to experience some nature. Just 45 kilometres out of Mitan, Chiaksan National Park is a lovely place to enjoy some fresh air. More delightful surrounds await at Sobaeksan National Park, 40 kilometres away.

Whether you aspire to conquer the black runs or just get back to base in one piece, Pyeongchang has the slopes for you. Make you way to either Yongpyong Ski Area or High 1 Ski.

Venture outwards and find out what's happening in Pyeongchang, 14 kilometres to the west. Plenty of visitors come here for Welcome to Dongmakgol Set and Pyeongchang Bowling Center. Alternatively, Yeongwol is 15 kilometres to the south of Mitan. Head to this destination for easy access to the Donggang Museum of Photography and Jangneung.

Whether it's for shopping or to see the sights, locals and visitors alike often make the trip out to Yeoju, 80 kilometres to the west. The Shilleuksa, Yeongneung/Nyeongneung and the Yeoju Ceramic Art Complex are close by. That being said, you shouldn't miss the Bandal Art Museum and Hyundai Doja Misoolgwan either.

Whether you enjoy the opulence of Michelin stars or gulping down a snack from a street cart, tasting the local food and drink is maybe the best thing about travel. So why not give your taste buds a treat by tucking into some of the area's decadent offerings?
