Escape into nature with our enchanting cottage tucked away in Monterey County, California, a hidden gem in Carmel Valley. This authentic rural, one-bedroom hideaway is ideal for disconnecting, unwinding, and getting closer to wildlife, with fresh eggs usually available from the resident-roaming chickens and nature’s soundtrack of chirping birds and singing crickets!

Explore Carmel Valley Village located thirty mins from the cottage, relax at the beach one hour away, or use it as a base to discover the strikingly rugged Big Sur area, under two hours away.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, a few days of individual solitude, or an exciting new family adventure, our homely cottage can accommodate up to four guests with its main bedroom and a separate queen-sized pull-out couch. Cook at your leisure in the fully equipped kitchen complete with all modern conveniences, and take in the hillside views while relaxing on the deck under a starlit sky.

You needn’t worry about chilly winter nights here; an indoor pellet stove is at your disposal offering a cozy vibe, or why not brave the brisk outdoors with a dip in the newly installed private hot tub?

Sheltered in complete privacy and tranquility, the only other guests that may pop by are the local deer, boar, turkey, and maybe even some big cats!

As husband and wife host team, our own family home is also separately located on the property, meaning we’re just a stone’s throw away should you need any assistance, and we’re only too happy to offer suggestions on things to do in Carmel Valley.

Guest access:

Your adventure begins on the narrow, winding road towards the cottage, with a crossing through Cachagua Creek, which is usually in full flow in the Spring.

The keys will be waiting for you in the cottage door lock, and we try to greet you upon your arrival to make sure you have everything you need, before leaving you to bask in the serenity of your surroundings.

Beautiful, peaceful stay!
Halleh’s place is just beautiful and peaceful in the middle of Carmel valley. We were surrounded by nature including having deer come right up to the cabin, woodpeckers, tiny frogs and of course meeting their very friendly dogs and chickens! The cabin was spotless and comfortable. We did several day trips to Big Sur, Monterey and Carmel-by-the-sea and this place with the perfect base to return to. Our dog was very welcome and really loved playing in the creek to cool off! Halleh was very accommodating and welcoming! Would highly recommend :)

Gorgeous property, comfortable cabin, awesome hosts
Hosts Halleh and Justin were warm, welcoming and helpful. Their property is breathtaking, quiet (except for their hilarious amd enjoyable rooster Elvis) and secluded in nature. Thankful for the rains this winter, we enjoyed wildflowers, gorgeous vistas, and sweet creekside spots to relax. This is a fantastic place to get away from the hubub of life.

Carmel Mountain Valley Trip
Had a great weekend getaway with our little baby and the dogs. Property is beautiful and checking in was very easy. Hiking up the hills behind the property was super fun. Explored the Valley area and Carmel by the Sea. Very cute town. The restaurant Trailside they suggested for breakfast was good. Definitely going to come back in the future!

Off the grid oasis!
This little cabin was a perfect getaway for me and my pug. It had all the modern amenities (wifi, tv, great lighting, modern kitchen and bathroom) and classic rustic cabin craftsmanship. This property was also very dog friendly - not just "dog tolerant". My pug loved the chickens, the hiking, and being able to run around the property. It was lovely to have this oasis and still be able to drive less than 30 minutes to a cute shopping area with boutiques, wine tasting, and restaurants. Halleh & Justin were great hosts, easy to contact, and gave great recommendations to make my stay wonderful.

Nice getaway.
Great little cottage in Carmel Valley. It was perfect for us and our rescue dog who has issues with people getting too close. The cottage was clean, well maintained and stocked. The welcome bottle of wine was a really nice treat too! It's a little farther out (15 miles or so from the village) but not an issue for us. The trails we found were great for hiking with our dog who is afraid of everything. We didn't see anyone on our hikes.

Wonderful quiet getaway!
My kids and I stayed at the cottage in the middle of our Northern California road-trip. This was a perfect place to wind down and enjoy peace and quiet. Our hosts were very welcoming and kind. We had a nice, relaxing time here. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedroom is comfy, the grill and hot tub were great, the only complaint is the sofa bed isn't comfy for two people. If you stay, do some star gazing from the hot tub with all the surrounding lights off!

Wonderful Nature Getaway
I had a great time at this sweet cottage out in beautiful Carmel Valley/Cachagua. I needed some quiet time alone in nature for personal and spiritual renewal, and that's just what I got! Peaceful Hideaway
This was the perfect little hideaway for my trip. My boy and I met my cousin and his boy for a fun getaway. We wanted to do some hiking and see some coastline, and this was the perfect spot. Hiking was readily available and peaceful. The trip to the coast was a little drive, but offered amazing views in and out. The hosts were exceptional folks. My little guy got an upset stomach, and they graciously offered up some tummy meds. The space is small, but perfectly comfortable for our 4 person group. The boys loved running around the property and they didn't need to be monitored at every moment. A fun little climbing tower for kiddos, a relaxing hot tub for the evening. If you want peach and quite, in a beautiful wooded area - this is the place for it. Thanks so much for accommodating us! We really appreciated it.

Beautiful isolated and quiet space. Just the reset I needed. Easy to find clean space. A big thank you for your hospitality. My plans of riding throughout the county on my mc fell through due to the wet weather but I made the best of what Monterey had to offer instead.

Quiet and beautiful
The little cabin is comfy and sits among large sycamore and oak. We took a hike up at the reservoir and enjoyed lunch in Carmel Valley one day. Host was helpful when we had initial trouble getting on the wireless but once signed in it was strong and worked just fine. Our dog Churro loved the blazing pellet stove. All in all a great place to stay.

A break from a busy world
An amazing little gem tucked away in the mountains. Booked it to get away from the stress of daily life and boy did it deliver. The hosts were very sweet and responsive. Was greeted by a personal note and some yummy treats which kicked off the long weekend in the best possible way. You won't have any coverage here, no matter who your carrier is (they're not kidding, 30min from the house my reception went to nil). And while they provide wifi, it's satellite based and will at best work for telegram or other IM services. Even email was a hit or miss, so download all your kindle books before heading here :) Having breakfast while looking at the local wildlife (ie, deer) having theirs right outside the window is really something.

Cozy little getaway
We were looking to spend a quiet weekend together and found just the right place. Our hosts made us feel very welcome in their correspondence and upon arrival. We spent plenty of time just sitting at the back deck listening to wildlife or stargazing at night. We were stocked with plenty of movies to enjoy as well as records and some board games. Lots of extra blankets, towels, pillows, etc. Overall a very cozy experience and we'd love to be back. Cell phone reception non existent but arrival instructions were thorough and clear, WiFi provided and even a landline, if needed. Solid place to unplug and unwind.

A perfect weekend.
The owners, Justin and Halleh, take great pride in providing a lovely cottage for a perfect weekend getaway. The property is surrounded by towering oak trees and wildlife. We sat on the patio enjoying a glass of local wine while watching deer graze on the hillside. At night we were lulled to sleep by chirping crickets and woke up to singing birds. We will be back again.
