Holidays in Na Thung

Na Thung is a place that has stacks of cool stories to tell. If you think your life's been a bit vanilla lately, a trip here is the perfect answer!

If you journey 180 kilometres of Na Thung, you'll find the significant city of Chiang Mai Province.

Sukhothai Historical Park, 35 kilometres away, is one of the best places to go if you want some fresh air and a relaxing afternoon. It's definitely worth the journey.

After some other nearby places? Sawankhalok is only 6 kilometres to the east, so hop in the car and start exploring! Alternatively, Si Samrong, 19 kilometres southwest of Na Thung, is also worth a day trip.

Phitsanulok, 75 kilometres to the southeast, is a great little excursion Use it as a base when stopping by Folklore Museum, the Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahatat Woramahawihan and the Wat Nang Phaya. If you need more convincing, other close by attractions include the Wat Ratburana and the Sgt. Maj. Thawee Folk Museum.

Whether you enjoy chasing Michelin stars or wolfing down a simple street snack, tasting the local food and drink is maybe the best thing about travel. So why not tingle your taste buds by digging into some of the region's mouthwatering offerings?

A standard meal here tends to include vietnamese coriander and culantro, two commonly used ingredients for which the local region is known for dishing up.

You don't need to spend all night reading through the menu when you're in Na Thung. Just dive straight in and sink your teeth into some of the region's signature dishes, such as khao kan chin (steamed pork blood and rice) and khanom chin nam ngiao (rice with pork blood sauce).

Ask any experienced globetrotter and they'll tell you that the easiest way to get the most from your time away is to learn how to say a few local words and phrases. Try to get your mouth around 'Raa-kaa tâo rài?'. It means 'how much is this?'. 'Mâi khâo jai', which means 'I don't understand', is also quite common.

Expecting to be here around the 5th of December? Luck is on your side. On this date each year, the entire nation joins together to celebrate Birthday of King Phumiphon.

When it's time to depart, spend the last of your holiday allowance and say "Laa gòn ná" to Na Thung.

Na Thung's nearest terminal is Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX). When you're ready to pack your bag and take to the skies, travel 180 kilometres to the northwest.
