Very well-priced. Basic old-style Japanese accommodation with shared toilets and washing facilities in corridors. Japanese bath on ground floor.
Good coffee shops for breakfast not too far away: Head café (near Adam gondola); Lion Adventure café (near bus terminal); café Senjeu further down towards railway station; café Baisen Kobo opposite Hotel Panorama. Excellent coffee at North Face in front of A-Coop supermarket. Lots of books to read and free computer use. Gravity Worx coffee is also good and they do food, near railway station.
Japanese restaurant behind Lion Adventure café does great vegetable tempura.
Favourite ski area was Iwatake, followed by Goryu/Hakuba 47. Also enjoyed Norikura, resort before Cortina, to which it is linked. Small but fun.
Zenkoji temple complex in Nagano makes a fantastic day out. Lots of old-style shops and cafes nearby. Buses every hour from Hakuba.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Nice but missing necessities in rooms.
Ever went camping in an empty room/house? If you like camping and paying someone 3-star hotel rates for a sleeping bag, this is the place for you!
This place would have been more suitable to change it's legal description to a campground instead of claiming to be a 2 or 3 star hotel! Very disappointed with the lack of amenities given the high 3 star hotel prices they are charging to comparable hotel in the vicinity.
No hot water kettle in rooms.
No tissues/napkins in rooms
No coffee or tea in rooms
No cups for water or tea
No hair dryer in rooms
No furniture except a small portable little table
No mirror
Expect absolutely 100% nothing in any rooms but a floor mat, a bed sheet and a blanket that YOU have to set yourself after you pull it out of the closet.
Room Heater is a weak and cheap electric type that barely heated the room. Had to ask for a personal space heater to help warm the room.
No shower after 10pm per the sign on the door and per the owners instructions! I had no choice but to break the rules and shower later one night and suspect that the water heater might be on a timer and stops producing hot water after this as my attempt to shower at 11pm yielded lukewarm water that just kept getting colder quickly.
Place was quiet, clean and owner seemed like a nice lady but the ammeneties or lack of was the deal breaker that I never expected.
Minako-san and her husband are such warm people that they make you feel comfortable straightaway.
They also offer discounted lift passes, which were very useful for me. Also easy access (1-min walk) to the ski shuttle bus stop.
The place was cosy, comfortable and very clean.
Do try their handmade soba dinner; you definitely won't regret it.
The host can speak little English and showed their smiling faces when they saw me. The whole place is kept clean and quiet. Just 2 min walk to bus terminal.
