We had a great view of the cathedral that is across the street from our room. There's a beautiful butanical garden next to the cathedral to check out. The local food shops and pubs are pretty good. The train station is a short 10min walk if you want to check out other local communities, wineries or even the beach.

Perfectly adequate hotel
Perfectly adequate small hotel for a short stay. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean room. Close to train station (5 minute walk) and city centre. Bars and eating places close by. I can’t comment on the breakfast as I didn’t partake.

The staff were very helpful and breakfast was good. The room was generally comfortable but it only had a skylight which I couldn't open. This meant it got very hot. The fan provided was effective but too noisy to leave on overnight.

Not quite what I expected.
Clean pleasant room and comfotable bed but all carpets scruffy. Hell of a hike up 4 floors with luggage.Strange to enter room via toilet/bathroom. Breakfast okay, fresh croisants but no eggs/cheese/ham. First receptionist offered no advice about where I could park. Second much more helpful pointing out locations on a map. On checking out there was a notice saying back in a moment. Waited 20 minutes then put key on the desk and left.

Very clean. But very small room and very small bathroom. No lift and steep narrow stairs . Long way from bus stop for long distance buses. But a out 10 min walk to castle. No english channels on tv .

Clean & comfy for a good price
Clean and comfy for a good price. Nothing spectacular, but served us well. Near the Jardin de Plants which is a very nice spot. Wifi was nice and reliable. No elevator and stairs are a bit steep if you have big bags.

A great place to stay in NANTES, France.
Conveniently located to the SNCF Train station and major transport to get around the city. We luv the park nearby, filled with nature like ambience with different kinds of ducks ( Rouen, Pekins ), love birds & others, Kids Farm with goats to play with. Cafes, shoppings & cathredals too is an easy access. Staffs are friendly & helpful.

Comfortable and reasonably pricwed hotel at convin
Overall I felt well in the hotel, and I wold recomend it to my friends. However I want to write two remerks. 1. Hotel has no elevator. I am in anvanced age and my backbone is in bad shape. I had problems to reach my room. Nobody ofered me help. 1. During my last night in the hotel a quite haevy picture fell to the floor very near to my bed while I WAs sleeping. I suggest that manegement review the way the picures are hang. Somebody may die.

Fine except for 1 niggle
Hotel du Grand Monarque (room 430) worked pretty well for my 2 nights in Nantes. Everything satisfactory except 1 gripe: I would have liked some drawers &/or shelves in the room. There were no drawers and just a single shelf, so it didn't really make sense to unpack my suitcase & put stuff away, which I found rather disappointing. There was enough space for a medium-sized chest of drawers in the room. Otherwise, everything fine.
