Been up 'til dawn way too often lately? Dying for a break and a few quiet nights? Nevis has your name all over it. It's set among the forests and lakes of Minnesota — nice and off the beaten track. (We bet you'll feel so relaxed, you'll be under the covers by sunset!)

It's located 1,700 kilometres to the northwest of Washington, the capital city of United States of America.

The splendour of Mother Nature is yours to discover in multiple places around Nevis. Just 40 kilometres away, Itasca State Park is an excellent place to start. Mississippi Headwaters sits 40 kilometres away and is another picturesque spot for some downtime.

Spend the day alternating between the steep slopes and a roasting fire at Buena Vista Ski Area and Mount Ski Gull. From learners to those who really know their stuff, there's something to delight everyone at these snow-covered wonderlands.

Venture further afield and find out what's going on in Park Rapids, 17 kilometres to the west. Plenty of travellers come here for Skoe Park and the Hubbard County Historical Museum. Alternatively, LaPorte is 30 kilometres to the north of Nevis. Stop at this locality for convenient access to Paul Bunyan State Forest and the Forestedge Winery.

Lake Itasca is 40 kilometres from Nevis and is an essential part of the region. Surrounding sights include Itasca State Park, Landmark Interpretive Trail and Bison Kill Site. Still got time to kill? Red Pine Trail and Peace Pipe Vista are also within reach.

Pander to the explorer within and check out the area's landscapes with a day of snowmobiling. Alternatively, perhaps you could go ice skating?

If your littlest travellers have had enough of sightseeing, why not treat them to a relaxed day of shore fishing or bird watching?

Whether you're diving into it, floating on it or cruising across it, not much beats being around the water. You can take your pick of a few watersports here, including rafting and canoeing.
