Artsy Magazine St | Grand Balcony | Great Location

Summary:
Located on trendy Magazine Street, this apartment takes up the entire 2nd floor of the building. It has a huge balcony, a spacious living/dining room with a custom-built sectional and 65'' HDTV, and four large bedrooms. There are desks in three of the bedrooms that are perfect for remote working. All art, murals, and wallpaper in the apartment come from New Orleans based artists.

This is a 2nd floor walk-up with stair access only, and no elevator.

The Neighborhood:
Uptown is a fantastic neighborhood filled with great architecture, historic homes, excellent shopping and dining, and easy access to the Garden District and the French Quarter. There are more than 20 restaurants and bars within a 10-minute walk.

Getting Around:
The neighborhood is very walkable - you do not need a car to access great restaurants and shopping. The Garden District is a 10 minute walk away (although the neighborhoods really blend together) and the French Quarter is a 12-15 minute drive away.

The fastest way to go to the French Quarter is by Uber/Lyft (a 12-15 minute drive).

Public Transportation can be a good option if you're looking to save some money or ride the St. Charles Street car.

All buses and streetcars cost $1.25 per ride or $3.00 for an unlimited 1-day "Jazzy Pass". You can either pay on board or pay through the “RTA GoMobile” App. The app (and norta.com) show real time location information on all buses and streetcars.

Bus 11 - The bus runs down Magazine Street and ends next to the French Quarter. The bus stops 200 feet from the apartment (corner of Magazine + Milan - in front of the restaurant Que Rico), takes about 20 minutes to the French Quarter, and runs every 20 minutes during most of the day. This is the fastest and easiest public transportation option.

St. Charles Streetcar - The streetcar runs down St. Charles all the way to the French Quarter. Walk down Milan Street to the corner of St. Charles + Milan. The final stop is the French Quarter (Canal + Carondelet) and it takes about 30 minutes. This option is slower than the bus but is more scenic (beautiful mansions and century-old oak trees line St. Charles Ave) and the streetcar (it was the oldest running streetcar in the world prior to its brief closure following Hurricane Katrina) is cool to see/ride if you haven't done so yet.

If you have some time on your hands, like to walk, and the weather is nice, I recommend walking the 3.5 miles to the French Quarter. I recommend walking down either Magazine Street (passing shops + restaurants + art galleries) or St. Charles Ave (passing beautiful mansions + century-old oak trees). Both streets will take you through the Garden District, Lower Garden District, Warehouse District, and CBD - all interesting neighborhoods. It take about 1.5-2 hours, depending how fast you walk, of course!

Parking:

There are three different parking options: free on-street parking, metered on-street parking, and a paid public parking lot.

1. All streets other than Magazine St. in the area are free. You can always find free overnight street parking within a 1-2 min walk of the building and I am happy to help you find a space when you arrive. Note that you will need to parallel park!

2. There is metered street parking in front of the building (all along Magazine Street). Parking meters are in effect Monday-Saturday, 8am-7pm. The meters are for 2 hours and cost $2 per hour.

3. There is a public paid parking lot on the block (20 second walk from the building). It costs $25 for 24 hours. I would not recommend this option as you can park for free on the street, but it is an option.

Other Things to Note:
Mardi Gras/Carnival Season: The apartment is a 2 minute walk away from the main parade route!

This area is a great place to watch the parades - there are a lot of people watching here but you'll have a great view and never be more than a person or two deep. You'll also have enough space to bring chairs, food, a keg, etc. Most people who live in New Orleans watch them in this area; downtown and french quarter can get extremely crowded and is mostly tourists.

Most of the big parades start at Tchoupitoulas Street and Napoleon Avenue, go down Napoleon Avenue (2 min walk from apartment), and then turn onto St. Charles (8 min walk from apartment) and head downtown.

As part of our commitment to being good neighbors, occupancy limits and quiet hours (10pm-8am) are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems will be provided.

Per City of New Orleans regulations, this property is equipped with a noise monitoring device. It does NOT record actual sounds or conversations, it simply monitors the noise level (measured in decibels) . This device also monitors occupancy and cigarette smoke.

IDs will be requested for verification after booking.

Interaction with Guests:
I am available 24/7 to answer any questions.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned apartment, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private balcony or patio. Conveniences include a desk and a microwave.
This smoke-free apartment offers complimentary parking nearby.

Great location - lots of room!
My husband, teen daughters and I had a great stay here. Communication was so great. A pdf arrived ahead of time with information about the house, neighborhood and things to explore in New Orleans. If you’re a light sleeper, take earplugs, sleep mask and/or white noise. The rooms are all pretty bright, and those close to the street are a little loud. We enjoyed the balcony, walked around a ton in the neighborhood and saw so much of NOLA from a great location.

Even better than we expected
This is a great place in the best neighborhood (I am from NOLA but live away). It was bigger than we expected. Very clean and comfortable. If you can handle one shower (we did with 8 people) you can’t beat it. Will definitely stay again. Hosts were very friendly and responsive. We paid a premium for Mardi Gras but it was worth it!!

Great Uptown location
The property had plenty of space and is in a great location. We walked to parades and enjoyed nearby restaurants. There is a park only a couple of blocks away which was perfect for letting the kids run out some energy. We had no issues finding parking and coming and going was easy. We had a great stay and will most likely book this property again for next year.

Excellent location!
We had a wonderful stay! Perfect location for us - we loved the restaurants, coffee shops and other shops in the area. The “house” was perfect for our family too. We were able to bring our dog which was wonderful as well. Neighborhood was safe and a fun area. Not too loud which was nice. The balcony was so much fun to sit out at night and enjoy the weather. This listing is exactly how it looks in the pictures which was wonderful! Owner was always available and very prompt on their replies. We had no problems at all with this property! Thank you!

Funky uptown rental in a perfect location
I absolutely adored this rental. It is huge with room for the whole group, or just for a few folks to spread out. The location is right in the middle of one of the best NOLA neighborhood with shopping and amazing food on the same block. Highly recommend!

Definitely our Favorite!
I hesitate to tell say how wonderful this place is for selfish reasons, I may never get to reserve it again if everyone knows how great it is. However I must be honest, this apartment is charming and lovely. Bedrooms are spacious, beds and bedding are very comfortable. The eclectic kitchen situation is funky but very functional. The full sized fridge, microwave and toaster/convection oven are in a little side room. Across the hall is the half bath which has double kitchen sink and washer/dryer. The kitchen area next room over has cute little fridge, small sink, coffee area and a full sized stove with bar and stools. This room also has the built in sofa and large screen tv. I’m amazed at how cool this all worked for us. The balcony is spacious and has comfy seating and a great view of all the goings on in this great neighborhood. Unless you really wanted to venture out to see all that New Orleans has to offer, you don’t have to leave the neighborhood. There are dozens of wonderful restaurants, great shopping, grocery, parks....it’s just a terrific location. Sam was easy to contact and very accommodating. The apartment is well stocked with so many amenities! The only things we found missing were wash cloths and dish towels but we normally bring our own so it wasn’t an issue for us. We can’t wait to book this apt again. Thank you Sam!

Awesome Location, Very Nice Host
Home looked as pictured. Check in was a breeze. Communication was prompt and professional. Perfect for a large group and families. Only minor critiques: the projector needs a speaker to accompany it because its internal speakers are not very strong, and the door knobs need to be tightened. Even with those critiques I would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again. Thank you very much!

Twas a Dream!
I have travelled to NOLA many a times but this trip in particular was a total dream - due in large part to this amazing place! The location was ideal and easily accessible to all of my favorite spots + the house itself was clean and cozy! Also - let me just give a virtual round of applause to the decor and thought process behind this rental. It had everything we needed, we felt super cool living amongst it's artwork, and the instagram photos were poppin'. Loved every minute of our stay - thanks Sam!

Great Magazine St. Apt.
Sam's place was great. Comfortable beds and plenty of space. Great porch. Not a ton of living space--the main area is a combo eating room with a couch, but excellent location on Magazine and fantastic porch. Sam was very attentive with any questions we had. Perfect for our group of 5. We will be back.

Great Place!!!!
Stayed here with my family for Mardi Gras. Its surrounded by multiple highly rated restaurants and mixture of sheik and funky clothing stores. The apartment is clean and spacious and Sam the owner is quick on his response time. The balcony is great for people watching on the bustling Magazine Street. Its upstairs and closer to Napoleon than St. Charles, but I highly recommend this hot spot.
