I stayed at the Motto Hotel from the 18th–22nd. When we arrived, it was pretty late and the front desk staff member seemed extremely tired—almost falling asleep. I understand it was late, but I wish we had at least been given a quick overview of the hotel. There was no mention of where amenities like the gym were located, nor were we shown how to get to our room.
Once we found the room, it was very average. One positive is that despite being close to Times Square, outside street noise was fairly quiet. Unfortunately, the soundproofing between rooms was poor—we could hear our neighbors and the guests above us very clearly. Personally, I would much rather deal with city noise than hear everything happening in other rooms.
The location is definitely a strong point. It’s very convenient if you want easy subway access and plenty of quick food options nearby.
One small but noticeable issue was the air conditioning. The air quality felt a bit dirty, and the AC kept turning on and off even after we tried turning it off completely.
Overall, you get what you pay for. If you have the budget to spend more, I’d recommend upgrading to a different hotel. But if you plan to be out exploring most of the day and just need a place to sleep and store your things, it does the job.
