Only two issues from us, but would stay again!
Wonderful experience! Even got us checked in after our train got in sind 930am instead of the afternoon. The only two complaints would be lack of elevators working/running. People were waiting at busy times for up to 40 minutes with luggage to get on. We had to ride up to go down too. 15th floor to 41st, then back down. Second would be that the breakfast was included for ONE person, if you choose that option, but its 40 bucks a person for the buffet that wasnt amazing. So basically we saved 40 bucks but still ended up spending 90 dollars to eat one breakfast. Go with the two free drinks instead. Overall though, everything was wonderful location wise, staff wise, and any issues were handled fast and wonderful. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Very sad reflection on the Westin brand. The only effective interaction was with the cleaning staff who was trying their best. Management ineffective - ineffective communication between staff and management. Waited for elevators 20 minutes and gave up. Took stairwells only to discover tens of other people like us trying to get out of the hotel, or to their rooms that way. Customer service at the central Westin number non-existent. Concierge and front desk could not be reached over more than 20 minutes of repeated calls. Will think hard before staying at a Westin again after the experience at this property.

Well let me tell you , place was overpriced to what it looked like. The front lobby just looked unkept. Bar area was ok. I thought that it would be nicely decorated due to the holidays but it was kinda basic. The restroom was outdated, chipped corners , chipped bathtub . When I walked in. I had asked the front area rep to make sure to put the hold on a different card. I gave her the card she swiped it and I told her to remove the previous card hotel amount was held. Well guess what, 4000$ dollars was held on BOTH of my credit cards !! So total of 8k! And it didn’t get cleared until I got back home which was annoying. So never again will I stay there . Bad experience.

The room 1619 was nice but had two sets of windows, one in the front andbthe 2 rear windows that were drafty with cold airbseeping through. This made the room colder than normal.

The Westin at Grand Central was amazing!
We had an amazing trip to NYC, and our hotel was in a fantastic location. The service was excellent; however, I gave the hotel an overall rating of 4 stars due to the slow elevators—perhaps not all of them were operational—as well as the long lines for breakfast.

The property was okay. Nothing special. When the time came to check out however, we waited 30 minutes for an elevator and then had to walk down eight flights of stairs with all of our baggage because they would not arrange anything for the people in the middle of the hotel to get an elevator. Apparently they had almost 400 people checking out and they made no accommodations for anyone other than those on the top floor.

Proximity to Grand Central Station was great, only 2 blocks away from the hotel (about 5-10 min walk). Bus stop located at the corner, only 2min away max. Only inconvenience was the ice machine was not working and elevators got a bit busy with guests so sometimes a bit of a wait.

Front desk staff could be friendlier but location is great and the bedding is very comfortable. Bring a sound machine for sleeping to block out the NYC noise which went into the early morning hours. Bathroom needed faucet and shower tightening to eliminate leaking water. Price for hotel was higher than it is worth, but may be due to the popular early Dec week we visited.
