Weekend Stay: An Unexpected Headache

Overall, my stay was nice. I was in town for a work conference. The hotel room, staff, and service were great. I also enjoyed the walkability of the city. I will say, I chose the “Wait Now and Pay Later” option via Hotels.com, but the hotel charged my card about 10 hours before I officially checked in. They accidentally double charged the card I used to hold my reservation, and this was not the card I wanted to pay with. I eventually got my money back the following week. Thank God I had another card to use. I say all that to say, if you’re using the “Wait Now, Pay Later” method, use the card you intend to pay with, in case this happens to you. Also, make sure you have “safety cash” on another card, just in case. The staff was helpful, but the situation was stressful.

They told me we would be able to check in early with no costs when I called ahead since our room was ready. When I git to the counter, she was checking me in and asked I wanted to sign up for the IHG rewards. I declined and then she said I wouldn’t be able to check in early if I didn’t. Valet already had my car. So I signed up for it. Get to our room. It’s outdated. There are water bubbling marks on the ceiling in the bathroom. It was so dark in the room. Even with all the lights on, we couldn’t see to get ready. It was so hot in the room. We turned the ac to 60 but it was just a fan running and no cold air coming out. We don’t have time to let them know and thought maybe when we came back from the concert that it would be cooled down. That was not the case. It was so hot and everything felt damp from the humidity. The bed was not sitting on the frame correctly. It made the most horrendous noise with every move you made. I was up at 6 am because I was so uncomfortable with the hot and damp room. To top it off, we check out and wait over an hour for valet to bring our car and still had to pay for the valet fee. They offered a moscato to people waiting for their cars. Real smart. He’s some alcohol before you get behind the wheel. I paid over $1100 for one night and to literally get the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel.

Hotel was great! We were met with servers serving appetizers and cold hand towels. Cheese trays and free drinks too! Very kind staff. Nice room for our family! Bunk beds and king bed.

Don’t pay the up charge for a Lakeview room. All.

Pros: nice location in the heart of downtown Close to restaurants. Hotel was very clean. Room was very clean. Cons: parking was a nightmare. Valet parking cost $50 when we pulled up they were cars lined all the way to the end of the street. There’s no signage or directions as to what to do with your vehicle. We waited almost 20 minutes to try to figure out how to park, my husband went inside to ask the ladies at the desk. They told them they had no information to help him other than the valet is shortstaffed. There’s a meter man walking by who told me I had to move my car. There’s literally nowhere else to park after 25 minutes I pulled up to the front trying to find the valet man to ask him where to park. He thought I was ditching the line, I was not. He eventually parked my car for me. Once I told the ladies at the desk the next morning of the issues I had with parking and they were very sweet and comped me the $50 for parking. The bigger con was booking through hotels.com. We paid an up charge for a Lakeview room. Apparently this hotel has not had lake views for sometime. I called the front desk because I simply wanted a credit for the difference of what I paid, given we did not have a lake room. And she said I had to call hotels.com. I called hotels.com and they blamed the hotel for not having a current website because that’s where they get their information. I was eventually given the difference in a hotels.com credit. We definitely did not get a lake view room.

No valet when we showed up. Parking garage near by was full. Restaurant/bar closed early on weeknights. The front desk was pleasant and helpful but they were understaffed which caused delays for both check in and check out. The whole experience was disappointing for a hotel in this price range.

Morgan Wallen concert trip!

Location is great. Cleveland was nice! The hotel Needs updating, lighting in the bathroom is terrible, water pressure not good, bed was terribly uncomfortable, the air conditioning was poor, woke up sweating. Customer service is really great but overall condition of the hotel wasn’t worth the price at all.

Everything was good except for the television. The screen was blue and when I questioned the staff, they said they were in the process of replacing them. We were offered a comp breakfast for the trouble. Staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was clean and quiet.

A wonderful hotel in a great area— perfectly clean place, friendly staff, big room. Literally the ONLY negative thing I can say about it is that the bed was not very comfy, agreed upon by my wife; we both slept pretty poorly, but there were also other personal factors, so we could have just been having a weird night, as neither of us are usually very picky about mattresses (or maybe we’re just getting old…). Anyway, great hotel— I would stay here again if I were back in town.

This property is very close to 6 Flags America. Very convenient. This is a basic clean motel. Refrigerator in room. Hot breakfast included. Maintenence in rooms could be better. The door handle in the bathroom was very loose. And the traffic noise from the 4th floor was very loud, especially the motorcycles. Ask for a room away from the highway.
