It was extremely expensive for what was available. For example, two very small cups of clam chowder and one small can of Coke cost me $34.50. There also was a huge charge to park your car. Finally, it needs renovations. In that regard, the old heater in the room was extremely loud.

Beautiful classic historical hotel just down the road from the Newport “Cottages” shopping and Thames Street. Parking has gotten to be expensive in Newport be prepared. We ate at Nicola’s restaurant on Memorial drive, excellent and not over priced.

I asked for a room with a view. I feel we got the worst room right next to the elevator facing the parking lot in the lowest floor. It could be that I didn't far soon enough, but it was only one night with family so I felt totally ignored. The swimming pool didn't look clean so we didn't use it. It has a nice old hotel vibe, but overall I am not impressed by it other than the headboard of the bed. I always wanted to come visit Rhode Island and I hope to visit again since it's not too far from my home, but I don't think I would stay at Hotel Viking again.

The property was nice but when we got to our room the internet did not work the entire stay. We asked maintenance to check it out and while he was in our room we discovered the hot water did not work in our sink. The suggestion was to wait for the internet to work and my husband figured out that if we turned off the cold water at the sink we could get hot water in the shower and sink. So we burned ourselves everytime we washed our hands, face and brushed our teeth. The shower floor was also gross. It could really use a good cleaning and some new grout. This was our 25th wedding anniversary trip and was disappointing to not have better accommodation.

A nice old hotel with ridiculous charges for “resort” fee and valet parking added $100 per room. We did not use any other services, we were only there to sleep. Oh, we got 2 water bottles. Is that worth $100? I can see resort fees in the summer, but not in the winter.

Very nice hotel. We loved the location. It was great to valet the car on arrival and be able to walk everywhere. Excellent restaurants nearby and beautiful historic homes. The hotel beds were very comfortable . We would definitely return!

Our 50th Wedding Anniversary
We arrived early and where able to check in before 4:00. We were hoping to get a room closer to the front of the hotel, but we ended up in a room at the farthest end of the building. The room was very nice, and we had no issues with anything. Our stay in Newport was enjoyable, and I had a chance to visit my earlier residences in the city and to reminisce about places I knew from my childhood. My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Newport, since it invoked fond memories of my life there. I had always wanted to stay at the "Hotel Viking".
