The staff were incredibly polite and seemed very kind. They were helpful and graciously refunded our second night when we decided we could not tolerate a second night's stay.
However things got off to a rough start with the key card reader barely functioning and taking 5 attempts to actually read the card and open. The room was made to house more than it should have with a pull-out couch that made the space too small to hold the bedside tables. Instead, the nightstands were on the wall opposite to the beds on either side of the 90s era entertainment center. The entertainment center had a flat screen tv tucked into it which made it very difficult to see. At least the one queen bed was made up with double sized flat sheets so the bed came unmade with regular sleep movement. The ice bucket was in the bathroom over the toilet instead of somewhere more sanitary. The toilet didn't have a lid on the tank at all. When my spouse showered, they were forced to stand in water past their ankles. In the 50 minutes from the shower to our departure, the tub still hadn't finished draining. There was no hair or plug in the way. As we packed our stuff the smoke detector chirped so I looked up to find that it stated the replacement date was 2019, 5 years before our stay. Beyond all these things, the motel was in disrepair, had a lot of litter on the grounds, and was bad enough for our 6 year old to say they didn't want to stay there any longer.
