I rarely write reviews but our stay at Hotel Le Hameau was so disappointing that I feel the need to warn other travelers. To begin, we specifically booked a "Superior Room" with a balcony and view. When we checked in, the staff put us in the "Nid d'Amour," a dark, first-level room with a "view" of the parking lot that was in fact blocked by shrubs. When I complained to staff that there must have been a mistake as I had booked a room with a balcony and a view, the man behind the desk with glasses was incredibly rude. He said that the room assigned to me was "peaceful." Peaceful it may have been but what I had booked and paid for was a room with a balcony and view of the area surrounding St. Paul de Vence! (By the way, if you look at the hotel's website, you'll see that the "Nid d'Amour" room is supposed to have a skylight above the bed but there was no such skylight in this room.) The staff refused to accommodate our request to change rooms or get a discount. But perhaps the worst part of our stay was that the shower and sink were incapable of regulating water temperature and water pressure. We almost burnt ourselves several time because scalding hot water would come out of the sink without notice. Taking showers was terrible because the water pressure would suddenly slow down. From the service to the room conditions to the outright deceptive practices of this hotel, I would not recommend Le Hameau to travelers. There are much better options nearby.
