Very good

Our room was clean and comfortable and had a great view of Lake Toya. There was only a smoking room available to book but it did not smell too strongly of smoke. There is an onsen bath on the basement floor but we didn’t use it. The hotel was advertised as having shared bathrooms but we actually had our own private bathroom in our room, which was great! The location was super convenient- close to the bus station and the lake. I recommend this place!
The building is clearly very old and it is showing signs of its age. The onsen hot springs are hidden away in the basement and is extremely tiny and not an overall fun place to relax. The included dinner was average but it felt more like I was being served dinner at a friend's house than at a ryokan. You have to lay out your own futon as it's self-service which was a bit odd.
Overall the whole experience was very unexciting and we were happy to move on to the next leg of our trip.
Rude younger male front desk staff and unhelpful. Upon arrival immediately told us check in isn’t until 3pm (which we knew from the sign they had on the door and our reservation email) we were just dropping off luggage so we can go sight see. I asked about bus route to popular attraction and he just gave me the bus schedule in Japanese no explanation or direction about what it means. The room is old but big and view was best part. Have to share toilets. The onsen was dirty the water was brown and green (I’ve stayed 3 nights before at other places with onsens never seen this colour before)
One shower which is part of onsen in basement and open style naked ie not good for westerners, pay $40 more and get a proper bed nearby so poor value for money, reception doesnt answer emails so didnt know how to check in, entire hotel is smoking.
Plus side is best view of nightly fireworks

Liked: Cleanliness
We need to public toilet so it is quite inconvenience for family guest. But it’s location is excellent which is just beside the lake Toya so we can see the firework at night easily and conveniently.
Thumbs up for the location. Very near to the bus stop and shops.. Have a beautiful scenary of the lake in the room. Have ordered 2 days of breakfast and dinner and come in different variety set.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Noted room come without attached bathroom but did not expect is also without en-suite toilet . It fairly troublesome to go shared toilet on the same level of room late in the night .
Check in was good and staff was cheerful. Location was great as hotel faces the lake.
We did expect not to have attached toilet but did not expect no bathroom on each floor.
Inconvenient for people like us who don’t use the onsen and when we need to bathe we have to go to the obsen
Luckily we only stayed one night
