Disgraceful lack of hospitality.
Having stayed in apartments all over the world, we did not understand that this property required us to give them an exact time of arrival, and that there was no reception at the property. As we were travelling by bus, without an Italian mobile phone, I sent an email from our former location, giving our time of departure, which was the best I could do. When we arrived, there was no one to be seen, despite it being within the advertised arrival hours. We waited for 1.5 hours and then went to a local cafe to use wifi to contact the property. Eventually the owner? arrived and berated us as she was busy, admitting people to her numerous properties, and we were inconveniencing her. Never, in 50 years of travel, have I been treated so rudely and would never stay in her properties again. The apartment is beautiful, stylish, well equipped, with a lovely terrace, modern furniture, and nice linen. The location is in a run down area, but within metres of Noto’s magnificent main Baroque Street. Neighbours are friendly. A breakfast voucher of 6 euros for two persons is provided at a cafe, enough for a coffee and pastry per person. The accommodation lacked tourist information ( it had only a poorly photocopied map which was barely legible). If these hosts want to attract international guests they need to take lessons in hospitality, as it is not simply about developing nice properties. On our final day we again waited 1.5 hours for what was advertised as a 10am checkout but no one came.
