Excellent but...
We would definitely return to the Mercure Sherwood and generally we had a very good one night stay. However I just can't quite give 5 stars. There was a Nespresso machine with 2 espresso cups and 4 pods (2 regular and 2 decaf) and 4 sachets of Nescafe Original (2 of each again) but just 4 sachets of milk. Seems to be 2 extremes but then not enough milk. Also, no biscuits! An own goal. Then there was the £12 overnight parking fee. Not a huge amount of money but not a cost I was expecting. Be wary of the cocktails. They may be on offer and taste great but the ice cubes went higher than the rim - 2 big sips and you're done. But, everything else was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful, room was quiet, spotless with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The location is very good and just a short drive from town. The pool and sauna was very relaxing but bring a padlock for the locker - doesn't everyone!?

It was just an okay stay where the hotel could've improved on its service. We stayed for 8 nights, and I believed the parking should've been complimentary. Although the parking was waived in the end, the hotel requested 4 different emails to add to their Accor email list. The Classic Double Room was too tight for a couple and luggages for 8 nights. There was no mini fridge, iron and ironing board in the room. The mattress was a bit soft for our liking and we requested for a firmer mattress, none available. The housekeeping managed to change to a newer mattress, however it was still soft and we did not get restful sleep as anticipated. Dining at the restaurant is not chargeable to the room and you have to settle the bill there unless you inform the front desk and they will take a credit card guarantee which was not explained to us upon check in.

A great stay
Couldn’t fault the service. Easy check in. Cocktails at the bar were excellent value and the bar staff were very friendly. We had a problem with the air con but the management were very quick to sort it for us. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel
The Hotel is conveniently situated just outside Nottingham city centre. Check-in and and out was fine and all helpful. The room itself is very small, and does not really function well as a bedroom/workspace. the bathroom is also small but functional with good shower. The room is so small that the double bed fits in the room but there is little space for anything else there is no storage (I have 3 cases) the is no wardrobe, just a rail that is not useable as it hangs over the coffee/tea kettle/tray, there is no desk, just a narrow shelf to sit a laptop on and very low arm chair that is impossible to sit in and work. Its just not practical as a room but the bed was fine to sleep in.

No more a 4 Star!
This hotel is marketed as four star. Maybe it used to be. But no more! There in only one very small working lift, in a three storey hotel. No security to stop non guests entering. There was no evacuation procedure to be found anywhere. The carpets are worn. I used the facilities, the pool was ok, but the jacuzzi was very dirty, there was mold all over the ladies changing room, and the locker doors were falling off. I also went straight through to the pool without seeing any staff. I could of been anyone! The room was ok and comfy. Needed a small fridge or cooling draw. The TV was configured to not show BBC? for some reason. The check in staff were very pleasant.
