We stayed at the Grand Hotel Ocean City Oceanfront from January 15–19. We booked two reservations through Expedia — one for January 15 and another for January 16–19 — because we arrived a day early.
The first night, the room heat was working but not adequate. It was 28°F outside, and the room felt very cold. My wife slept wearing her coat under the covers.
I reported the issue to the front desk multiple times. Each time, I was told someone would be sent to check the heat — but nobody came. The lobby was also very cold, and the automatic front entrance door kept opening repeatedly due to a malfunction, allowing freezing air into the building. We were staying on the second floor, and the cold was noticeable throughout.
I purchased a digital thermometer from Walmart to measure the room temperature. At the heating unit, it read 67°F, but near the window the temperature was in the lower 60s. The room was not heating evenly and remained uncomfortable.
I was told we could not change rooms because the reservation was booked through Expedia. However, the hotel was able to combine our two Expedia reservations into the same room, showing that room changes were possible. Despite this, they would not offer a warmer room.
After repeated complaints, the heat output eventually increased without anyone entering the room, suggesting thermostat control from the front desk. By that time, we were already sick from the first night in a cold room
