It's 280 kilometres to the north of Wellington, the nation's capital.

Mother Nature's splendour is on show in numerous places around Omori. Just 45 kilometres away, Aratiatia Rapids is a terrific place to start. Huka Falls sits 40 kilometres away and is another pleasant spot for some downtime.

Winter sports enthusiasts flock to Omori, as it gives access to Whakapapa Ski Area and Turoa Ski Area. Just be sure to bring plenty of warm clothing! These snow-capped playgrounds can get seriously icy.
