Friendly staff, nice courtyard and breakfast. Close to bus and train station. Short walk to sights in town. We left a bag at bus stop outside the hotel while on our way to Vaison la Romaine and the hotel retrieved it for us...above and beyond service.

We spent 6 nights, we added an extra night to make 6.
The location was perfect for using the train to visit other areas.
The owners and staff were wonderful, treated us more like family than guests.
The facility is older, worn but not worn out. It is well maintained. The bar is cozy. The dinning room is great.

French charm in Orange
Great value, French family style hotel. Breakfast was good. Lovely staff and actually quite central. The pool and terrace were good too.

Hotel stay in Orange
Chose this hotel based on Internet reviews, etc., not really knowing anything about the town. The hotel itself is a bit worn and further way from the town center than I would have chosen had I been familiar with the area. One major drawback for me was that we were traveling with some heavy luggage and the lack of an elevator made it difficult to negotiate the two and a half flights of stairs to get to our room. Otherwise, everything worked OK and the room was clean. I did not use Wi-Fi there and frankly can't remember if it was available The hotel has both an indoor restaurant and an outdoor terrace facing the road.
One very positive aspect of this hotel for those traveling by train is that the train station is across the street from the hotel and a very short walk. For those driving, like we were, only on street parking is available and not free after 9:00 AM. If I were to visit Orange again, I would probably not stay there and would instead choose a location in the town center.

basic
Hotel is basic, no frills. A good make over is necessary, bed needs updating and air conditioner poorly positioned.
The Hotel de Provence is a charming older style hotel in Orange. We were at first dismayed to see that there was no elevator, but the young couple who own the hotel took our bags up to the room. Air conditioning was very appreciated as was the great breakfast with home baked typical Provence dishes and a delicious fresh fruit.

too near the train
The hotel was very good, big problem the train goes by next door to sleep is a problem as the air conditioning was not working!! Moved rooms to find air conditioning still not good but a better night sleep.
Disappointed with this hotel. The stsff were lovely but the hotel has seen better days. The room was tiny , not really big enough for two. Which also was true of the bathroom. The swimming pool was a joke, hip bath would be more accurate. Would only recommend for an overnihght stay.
Lovely buffet breakfast. Good spot for dinner opposite. Friendly staff with spaces for bikes in the garage. Handy location next to station, about 5-10minutes walk into town to see the Amphitheatre.
The breakfast was of excellent quality, quantity and value. The owners and staff were very friendly and attentive. Rooms were spotless and the free Wifi was very useful too. The pool is small but well kept and a large terrace was useful to relax. Short walk to town and ideal for the trains/buses. Vehicles and bikes can be stored in the very spacious garage area. Fully recommended.
Very pleasant experience with lovely, polite staff who couldn't do enough for us. Super room with quirky little bathroom. Good sound proofing against the train station noise and effective, quiet air conditioning. Fresh, inexpensive and tasty breakfast in the morning.

Friendly with A1 breakfast but decor v tired!
Best value breakfast you could hope for with a great range and choice of offerings. Friendly establishment but some over-riding negatives unfortunately. The "10 minute walk to the centre/Ampitheatre" is a very brisk 15+ minute walk, the extremely small triangular swimming pool was too cold and shaded from the sun mostly, the whole establishment and rooms are very tired and in need of a long overdue refit and overhaul/update and redecoration. Bathroom was too small and very difficult to use the toilet due to a monsterous sized roll holder right in the way, no plug for the bath, bedroom was very small but adequate. No kettle or fridge in room which was a real shame although the air conditioning was adequate. On a positive note, I would come back here just for the breakfast, and everyone's friendly manner.

Easy to Train
If you're looking for a quick night's sleep right next the train and easy access to the surrounding area, this hotel was perfect. It's straight across the street from the station and provided easy access to the downtown area to grab some dinner. The town isn't the most picturesque but there is a fabulous Roman theater.
This place was much better than I expected. It is very conveniently located next to the train station. There is some noise from the trains, but it is minimal. The room was very comfortable and quaint. The AC worked well, which was really nice this time of year. Breakfast was good and affordable. The two people that ran this hotel (I believe husband and wife) were extremely nice and helpful. Such a nice place.
Convienient for train station. Charming room though bathroom small. Beautiful breakfast room & lovely breakfast.Good air conditioning which allowed you to close windows & block out any noise.Pool & bar a bonus. Staff Friendly even carried our cases up to the room.Would stay again.
This was an affordable comfortable hotel. The staff was attentive and helpful. The room was more than sufficient with a queen size bed, nice bathroom and air conditioning. The location wasn't great - it is located a ten minute walk outside the city center by the train station - but the value was unbeatable.
We felt so well taken care of at this little hotel, we would stay there again on our next visit to Provence. The couple who run the hotel, along with their staff, took such good care of us we felt spoiled by them. They served us awesome baguettes and croissants, along with a bowl of fresh fruit every morning. Room was spacious, air conditioner was really good and it was very clean. Loved the shaded outdoor patio in front of the hotel, too.
Had a great stay at Hotel de Provence. The staff were all really friendly, the room was clean an well equiped. There was always enough room to sit outside by the pool. Great location a minute walk to the station (no noise could be heard from the hotel), 5 minute walk to the supermarket and 10 minute walk in to town. Would stay here again.
Good location, across from railroad station, ample free parking. Comfortable and clean room, with little welcoming touches like sweets by your bedside. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent full breakfast. Good value.
