When we got to the hotel I was charged an additional deposit which I was only informed of the day before my check-in. The elevator was out of service which I was also only informed of the day before my stay. This was already past the free cancellation date... how convenient! Check-in was very slow. When we were done with that, I specifically asked what I needed to do the next morning to get a shuttle to Universal Studios. I was told to let the front desk know 5-10 minutes in advance. The stairway and halls smell badly, and the rooms are old and worn out. The breakfast the next day was incredibly underwhelming bordering on unpalatable. When I went to the front desk to let the staff know we needed a shuttle to Universal we were told it was too late as there is only ONE shuttle there at 8:00am and only ONE shuttle back at 5:30pm (even though the park closes at 10:00pm). At this point I asked for a refund to go to a better hotel. They said they couldn't give a refund because I booked through Orbitz and to contact them. I contacted Orbitz who said they needed to contact the hotel. Then hotel told Orbitz that they had to email the hotel manager. This was Saturday morning. No one from the hotel contacted me till Sunday afternoon but only after I left a bad review. However, all they did was argue with me, make excuses and cover-your-butt statements, and they only offered to refund for the remainder of the stay which was only one more night at that point.

the carpet on the third floor was being dried by numerous fans. the elevator was shut down so we had to walk up three flights of stairs. the room was excellent.

Best hotel to stay if visiting universal parks
This is the best place to stay if you want to visit Universal studios and Universal Islands of Adventure. They do provide shuttle service. Would recommend to use Uber/Lift to visit park(less than $10 on way) instead of paying for $40 at studio parking. Great morning breakfast till 10:00 AM

I didn't find the place clean and I didn't like the smell. The place is really very simple for the price paid. I expected more from the place because it's close to Universal, I expected something cleaner and newer. The building and the place are old.

Conveniently located near Universal Studios Orlando. Quiet surroundings and easily accessible. Staff was nice. Room was appealing and comfortable. Nice plush bed and slept very well. Bathroom was just fine. A/C unit worked well but a bit noisy at times. Overall everything had a clean appearance. Liked the good breakfast and parking included. Disliked that the elevator was under maintenance.

When we arrived the elevator was broken had to carry luggage with 3 kids to the second floor. Once in the room, the room smelled so bad like something died, had to transfer to another room. The hot water was not working and took forever to get hot. The room was not being cleaned every night, we had to go down and ask for towels each night. The iron that was in there was not even heating up and would not work. We asked for another and that one did not work as well the phone you had to hold the cord in too talk. We were VERY dissatisfied with our stay. We have never had issues with any La quinta in but this one was absolutely horrible. We drove 15 hrs and then had to deal with those issues.
