Perfect simple beach holiday - the location is perfect, right on the beach. The staff are super friendly, the included breakfast is delicious and plentiful. It's not fancy but very good value for money, I felt welcome and safe.
Loved the customer care. Staff very committed to helping you. Went over and above to play with the children. Pool inviting. Small resort but 5 star.
Good chef with choices.
Food was a bit expensive when same meal in stone town was much cheaper but all resorts marked up food. So going to another reort was not a solution
We really enjoyed our staying at Pakachi. Rooms are basic in a rustic style, but cleaned impeccably every day. Very nice to have the room prepared for sleep each evening :)
Good to have a pool for the low tide hours (also for a quick cooling, as the beach in front does not offer a good entrance in the sea, due to many rocks)
Food is tasty, diverse options and well priced.
Steve is a nice and careful host and so is the whole staff - we felt very welcome and we thank you all.
Will return for sure!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The hotel grounds are nice, the beach itself is good, just not great for swimming. There are rocks/coral & even when the tide is in it doesn’t get deep forever. You can walk around, even at night without issues, which was great!
The pool is quite nice! We found the service & staff were wonderful!
The rooms are nice and clean, however could use a little work. All in all, as long as you remember that it is a 2*, most people should be satisfied.
Our stay at Pakachi was incredible. The owner provided hands down the best service and all of the employees were super friendly. For anyone seriously interested in having all of the amenities, there is no A/C in the standard rooms, but in our opinion, it enhances the experience of really living on the beach. The food was incredible, the service was incredible, and we could not have asked for a more relaxing stay. We look forward to returning to Pakachi!!
We absolutely loved our stay Pakatchi!!! We spent four nights at this wonderful place and wish we could have stayed more. The staff are extremely friendly. The food was delicious, and most of all the view from our beach bungalow was just awesome. Few steps down some stairs and you right on the beach. Highly recommend paying a bit more for that amazing view. Waking up to sunrise over the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing was incredible. There a great pool for swimming when the tide is out. We are very simple folks and don’t need luxury, so our bungalow was perfect for us, however if you are looking for modern fittings, bells and whistles and aircon , then you may want to look elsewhere as the bungalow are very basic and rustic which we loved.
The Pakachi beach resort is real value for money. Steve the owner is a gracious host and ready to go the extra mile for his guests. The hotel is situated right on the beach in breathtaking surroundings. The food is excellent with 2 professionally trained chefs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool is well maintained used it every day.
Thanks Steve for a great week.
Cheers,
Bob
Wonderful bungalow style rooms and hotel right on the beach. Spent 4 days here and overall had a wonderful experience and would gladly recommend to a friends and family.
Pros; Great staff with spot on bar tending, great food menu with a rotating special menu that did change several times for the 4 days I was there, and all of this with the tables and bar overlooking a beautiful view of the beach. An owner who frequently was around and incredibly helpful in arranging activities when I asked (and not pushing an agenda like some other hotels I stayed at in Zanzibar), and great to have a beer and chat with in the evenings. Great ambiance, not too noisy and still close enough to hop over to other areas whether its Jozani, other beach areas for kite surfing, surfing or snorkeling.
Cons: Not necessarily a con, but if you're looking for a party hotel, might stick to a big hotel or hostel type in Paje. Felt it was more a pro and not a con depending on what you want.
For the price this place is ideal for a quiet getaway with busy activities not too far off.
The food was delicious; excellent chef.
The view of the sea from the hotel is wonderful, the beach is a bit rocky but only 3 min walk away you can be swimming in the wonderful blue waters of the Indian Ocean.
Steve was a wonderful host and organised activities at very reasonable prices compared to the beach boys.
Ad a wonderful stay at Pakachi beach hotel. The staff were very friendly and available at all times. Steve was a really nice host and made our stay very pleasant. You must know however that this hotel uses salt water as it is eco friendly, however for washing face and teeth, drinking water is provided. The location is like being in paradise, far from all the touristic areas, but at the same time not isolated from everything. The hotel also has a restaurant that prepares one of the most amazing see food i have ever tried and a very good price. I thoroughly recommend this place!!!
This place exceeded my expectations for the price I was paying for it.. The owner Steve and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Steve helped us arrange our activities for cheap prices..
The only thing I didn't like was the salty water.. However, Steve explained why he uses mix water from a well and the ocean. The other hotels use a lot of the tap water that is supposed to feed the nearby village which causes a shortage in the village.. He also provided free bottled water for us to use when brushing our teeth!
Overall, I recommend this hotel
I was the only guest at the resort and since there is nothing to do besides laying on the beach it gets boring quickly. Fortunately I only stayed one night but my overall impression of the place is not impressive. The manager does what he can to welcome you but still the bungalows are mediocre at best, the bath room of very low standard and the complimentary breakfast is poor and disorganized. Also the level of English among the staff at the resort is very poor which will create a lot of confusion. Not recommending this place at all, better check in at Paje or Jambiani if you want a good experience.
The most amazing part is about the staff and the food. Everyone from the staff is smiling and in a good mood, treating you like a v.i.p.
The food is absolutely delicious, I think the best we had in 14 days of Tanzania (we ate in approx 15 places): many compliments to the chef.
Especially Elia, from the staff is a lovely and funny person
nice and quiet place, helpful staff, very good food quickly served, family friendly

Very friendly
We had a great time at Pakachi with my son. Everybody was super friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful, food was good and my son enjoyed the pool.
Pakachi Beach Resort is like feeling at home in a place like Zanzibar. I don't have words to describe Steve, his wife Angela and all the staff.. they are all so nice, kind and friendly, I found a family down there and I won't never forget anybody! The Pakachi is a quiet place, cozy, comfortable and clean. They have a swimming pool, even if they are in front of the beach, beautiful white sand.. I was forgetting to speak about the food! Well.. so good! Wonderful breakfast every morning!
So, again, thanks guys! Best holiday ever!
If you want to relax by the beach, read a book and grab a piña colada, look no further. We had a magical time here, waking up to the sound of the waves every morning and getting up from the bed to get breakfast in the restaurant where a smiling staff member would serve us a delicious breakfast.
A special thank you to Steve, his wife, and the Staff (from the guards and chefs to the restaurant staff). They were most accommodating to every request we could think of, always with a response "hakuna matata - no worries," and we were always met with a smile whenever we would go talk to them. The staff at Pakachi is very kind and happy. They really make the place feel warmly welcoming.
Dos and Don'ts:
Do: Ask Steve (the owner) for help in arranging rides from the Airport and in arranging trips and activities. You will get guaranteed, cheaper and safer experiences; you will be able to find your phone in case you lose it in the cab; you will not spend hours haggling for a cheaper price (a price Steve will likely still beat); you will know what to get and won't have surprises of not getting a snorkel or water during the trip after all.
Don't: Look for better food elsewhere. Eat your meals at Pakachi. We tried restaurants up and down the beach and the food wasn't as great as at Pakachi. Pakachi had delicious food with great prices, fresh seafood and a nice mix of local and Western foods. Why make the hike elsewhere?
