When your boss is on your back cos you've chucked too many sickies, it's time to take a breather from the nine-to-five and say hello to Paraiso!

The nation's capital, Santo Domingo, is situated roughly 150 kilometres to the east of Paraiso.

Does a sunrise with the sea as your backdrop sound like one of the best ideas yet? Then pull out your map and head to San Rafael Beach, 9 kilometres to the northeast.

You don't have to travel too far to uncover some superb natural sights. Jump in the car and head in the direction of Jaragua National Park, 40 kilometres away from Paraiso, for a relaxed day. Or maybe Sierra del Bahoruco National Park is more your style? It's situated just 50 kilometres away.

Be sure to remember Bahoruco & La Ciénaga. It's a terrific place to check out if you've got time.

Would you like to venture outwards a little? Barahona is 20 kilometres to the northeast of Paraiso and Las Salinas is 35 kilometres to the north. Get in the car and discover what's going on out there!
