Wish we had stayed somewhere else
Tried to check in at 7:00pm. Receptionist wasn't there. The lady that we found (I think she was a maid) didn't have a clue about our booking. We went to eat super, so she could call the owner. Still clueless when we returned, but showed us to our room anyway. The room was fine, but the wifi didn't work. Breakfast wasn't good. The cereal was stale, bread rock hard. My wife made a chocolate milk, this is kinda funny, they had refilled the Nescal brand container of mix with an off brand! I got a laugh, as I know she knows her chacolate mix. Anyways, it was clean but disappointing at best.
Stayed a couple hours in Paraty (disappointing as well) the next day. Then went to Ubatuba (much better!)
the rooms were beautiful, as well as the location (if you want to go to the historic zone of Paraty is a 30 minutes walk), but at the last moment we had to pay more for our daugther because they didn't talk to us before or remind us about an extra prize, or even had the option to specify on the expedia reservation we were traveling with a kid. Must do that better. Besides, nobody recommended us plans for Paraty or even promote their spa and location. Anyway, the location is nice. Service can be improved.
Room was huge and incredible value for money. Only criticism is that the fridge and A/C were loud in the room. The grounds are beautiful and the owner friendly and helpful.

My stay at Bamboo
Nice place to stay for a few nights. Breakfast was abundant, with lots of choices (fruits, breads, juices, etc.) next to a nice river view. We arrived in June ( autumn in Brazil ) and we did not have any problems with mosquitos at all but we encountered tiny ants on the floors. There were some cracks to the doors but they had a private curtains over it. The bed was comfortable enough but it would 've be nice if there was a microwave in the room. The Wi-Fi on the cellular phone worked fine but for my computer, I had to go to the Lobby on the 2nd floor to get the internet. The shower is what to be expected in most of the places in Brazil...not a lot of water pressure, since the water is headed up by electricity inside the shower head. Overall, the place is well kept, a nice pool and safe neighborhood. We rented a car in Rio de Janeiro and drove to Paraty. We had a little bit of problem finding the location even though we had a map ( some of the streets didn't have names/signs)
Clean and quiet, if not a bit too far from town on a hot or wet day (25 mins walk to bus station)
Lovely breakfast by the river, nice communal lounge area with wifi access.
Helpful staff and nice rooms, the pool has comfortable sun lounges but the spa is no longer in use.
Great host, helpful and always nice.
Excellent breakfast by the river (beautiful landscape)
Little far from downtown...20 min walk at least to get to the historic center.
From the first moment we arrived, Ben welcomed us with open arms. He gave great recommendations and made sure that we enjoyed our entire stay. Our room was very clean and our beds comfortable. You feel like you're in your own little spa retreat with the lounge chairs, pool, steam room and sauna. I also loved the beautiful location of breakfast on the river. Although the hotel may seem a bit distant from the town, we found the walk pleasant and comfortable with lights the entire way. I would happily return here again, and we were so reluctant to leave!
Great location, walked to historic down town. Plenty of food for breakfast. Large lot for Inn with a great view of animals. I would stay again due to friendly staff and great time.
the hotel was very clean, peaceful and tranquil. although the front desk help spoke no or little english they were very friendly and helpful. the air smelled sooo good, like flowers, pool was spotless and the breakfast was delicious. the setting outside the rooms was far superior then inside the rooms. they were adequate and clean but no real atmosphere inside. the location was close to historic paraty and that was a great little port town. a must to see. would recommend this hotel and would stay there again
Great stay, large rooms, great bed, 2 bathrooms (always a plus). Pool and garden great. Not in historic center, but had no problems parking near the harbour.
British owner Ben provides a warm and very helpful welcome and excellent service at Bambu Bamboo. The hotel is in a suburban area a good 20 minute walk away from the centre of Paraty, but the walk into town is delightful, along a riverside path. The rooms are simple but the the well maintained hotel pool area/ garden is a great sanctuary in which to relax, away from the tourist bustle of the old town, and the hotel also has a therapy centre employing a superb physiotherapist/masseuse. Highly recommended.
My family had a great time at Pousada Bambu Bamboo. Ben made us feel right at home and I would definately stay again. He had nice comfortable rooms, delicous caipirinhas, and terrific recommendations for things to do in Paraty. My teenage children especially liked his recommendation of Raul for rainforest horseback trail rides--he was great and took really good care of us. Although the hotel is a little far from downtown Paraty, it was a safe and pleasant walk and we wished we had booked more days with Ben!
Pousada Bambu Bamboo is perfect for a couple or small group wanting an intimate getaway. The historic center of Paraty is a comfortable mile long walk from the Pousada, however, Neto (the owner) is always eager to provide transportation there for you. Neto happily arranges any excursions (boat trips, jeep tours, etc) you would like to take, ensuring you have the best experience for the best price. I highly recommend Bambu Bamboo for anyone wanting to experience the charm of Paraty and the hospitality of Brazil.
I was disappointed in this hotel, and am perplexed as to why it got such glowing reviews on the internet. The hotel stated it was a "20 minute walk" to town (the historic section of Paraty where everything is happening) and it really was more like an athletic 40-minute walk along a winding road that didn't have a sidewalk in some parts. Another reviewer talked about the staff giving them rides to town, etc. which was simply not the case during our stay-- they just offered to call cabs and it did get expensive. The breakfast was beautiful, I do say. But the day we checked in, there was nobody at the desk and nobody spoke English, so lots of confusion. It was always difficult to track down a person there, as nobody sat at the front desk regularly. They appear to have a hot water problem-- after my 3rd cold shower the icing on the cake was a cockroach peering at me from the doorway. The bedding was musty and bed was uncomforable. They left only one tiny bar of soap to service the two bathrooms including 2 sinks and 2 showers. Two thin bath towels & 2 hand towels also did not reinforce the "spa like" atmosphere they tout! The rooms were very dark, one of my pet peeves in hotel when you're trying to rifle through your suitcase; I noticed they had a lame 25-watt bulb in the table lamp. This was supposedly a spa-type luxury pousada, with a comparitively luxury price. I feel they were short-staffed and in an inconvenient location and I would not recommend it.
My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights in April. The hotel facilities, including swimming pool, breakfast and dining area were lovely. Our room was very comfortable but the walls could do with a fresh coat of paint. The owner and staff were extremely helpful - they organised a transfer from Sao Paulo airport to the Pousada for us, which was a great help.

Bom hotel pra quem não se importa com gatos
Hotel é bom. O pessoal do hotel é bastante prestativo.

A pousada é ótima e a equipe fantástica.
