My first impression of Dandy Hotel was exactly what I could have hoped for. It is quirky, unique, and aesthetic. Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel negatively impacted my entire vacation. After my first night, I woke up with what seemed like a rash on various parts of my body. By evening, it became evident that these were, indeed, bug bites. The front desk was unphased by my pictures and moved me to a smaller room. Despite the move, I spent the evening in a panic, unsure of how to proceed with this situation. I decided to give the new room a chance and thankfully did not receive any new bites for the duration of my trip. However, this did not decrease my anxiety during the rest of my stay. I was terrified of leaving my clothes and luggage near furniture or walls and felt uncomfortable in the bed, resulting in a lack of sleep. Despite having a notably smaller room (no balcony, no powder room, on the ground floor), I was assured it was the same as the first. Returning home was even more of a nightmare due to the numerous precautions I needed to take. After a doctor's visit confirming the bed bug bites, I contacted Expedia for compensation. They informed me the hotel refused. Expedia offered me a measly one night's worth of credit, after having to contact customer service on 5 different occasions. The hotel eventually reached out to me 3 months later with a screenshot of an email from Expedia, reiterating their lack of accountability.
