Peaceful Cabin located in beautiful Des Moines River valley

Cabin sits on almost 2 acres right across from the Des Moines river , boat ramp just 1/4 mile away . Home has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing get away in the woods . Cabin is log and knotty pine inside . This cabin was built by my father in 2003 as his retirement home . We welcome well trained dogs , there is no fenced yard and lots of timber all around so we recommend keeping on leash as there are lots of deer crossing thru property daily . Boone is just a 10 min drive , Ogden 15 min . Don Williams recreation is also just 5 min drive . Come relax , rewind and just enjoy the peace and quiet of the country .

Bird Hunting Trip

I had such a wonderful time! From the moment I opened the door and came into the cabin to the time I closed the door for the last time, it felt like I was home, that this was a place to be able to be off, to just recharge. This cabin in a little place out in the country had everything one would need. I look forward to the next time I am able to stay here. I cannot recommend this place high enough.

Quiet, Remote, Exactly What We Wanted
My son and I wanted a remote place to stay outside of Omaha because of the loud fireworks on the fourth of July. This was one of the only places I could get and it was well worth it! In the middle of the beautiful Iowa country side, near the river, was a quiet escape for us. The place was larger than expected, cozy and comfortable. It had wifi and dog friendly. So, we unpacked our laptops and sat around eating junk food and playing video games avoiding the fireworks! While you're probably not like us, if you enjoy being in nature, the woods, in a quiet place this is for you. Also, the owners communicated very well with clear instructions. Highly recommend.

Comfy, quiet hideaway
We were so impressed with this cabin. Everything in it was cozy, comfy, and well thought out. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed was super comfy, and don't get me started on the luxurious giant jetted bathtub. The location was great: a quiet lot that felt very private, beautiful trees, and tons of birds visiting the feeders outside the window. We loved that our dog was welcome and there were several thoughtful amenities geared towards his safety and comfort as well. The host was very helpful and accommodating, and we got timely responses to all messages we sent. All in all it was a very relaxing visit. Would definitely book again!

The cabin was absolutely perfect, exactly what you would expect a cabin to look like and super spacious. The kitchen was fully stocked, everything was clean and comfortable, and the property is gorgeous. The bed is a sleep number which we loved because my husband and I have completely different ideas of what a comfortable bed is, and we both got what we wanted. There were plenty of notes to help us know where everything was and how to work it (like the thermostat!). The expected cleanup at the end was super reasonable and no more than I would do for a regular hotel room (pickup our own garbage, strip the bed, wash our dishes). We didn't watch the TV's so I can't vouch for those but honestly the peace and scenery is enough to entertain anyone. We really enjoyed our stay, it was better than I had imagined and I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for some peace and quiet.

Fantastic stay once again!
Second visit to this property, and once again, it was exactly what we were looking for! Quiet, secluded, and easy access to biking trails and hiking spots. Perfect location to branch out into Ames, Boone, Perry and other small towns nearby. Cabin was perfect, just like our first visit, and Heather is a fabulous host. Checking was super easy, and communications were timely. Looking forward to another trip back in the future!

Beautiful Quiet Getaway
A beautiful, quiet getaway in a very scenic area. We went to just getaway and the area looked beautiful, and it was! The cabin was really clean with all the amenities. My husband was hoping to fish but the weather did not cooperate. So, cabin for NCAA Basketball it was! Clean, great amenities, and our dog loved it. Thanks for a great stay!!

Really enjoyed our time atbthe cabin. Very close to fishing spots and not far from town. As an avid outdoorsman i really enjoyed the decor. The King bed was a very comfortable sleep number. There was plenty of cooking ware and condiments. We slept late on our check out and host was very accommodating and reaponded quickly.Look forward to comeing back

What a gem!
My husband and I stayed in this “cabin in the woods” for a weekend getaway with our two dogs and had a wonderful time. The cabin is close to both Boone and Ogden so getting groceries or having some laid back things to do was easy. The cabin was very clean, well kept up and nice and roomy for a group of our size. We also appreciated the fact that our dogs were obviously welcome and not just “tolerated” to increase bookings. We will definitely be back!

Great location and property, horrible host!
My husband and I stayed the weekend and loved the property and had a great time until having to contact the host......we had car issues the day of checkout and mind you there is NO cell service at the property so no calls or texts went thru without being connected to WiFi, I went to service area down the road to contact them and send my biggest apologies for being late on checking out and we were doing everything possible to get out of there in return for the inconvenience, all our stuff was packed and loaded up and I cleaned the entire cabin and did all laundry and left it as it was when we arrived from vacuuming to trash cans all emptied, we saw the host across the street (which we didn't know it was them at the time) peeking at us outside and she proceeded to come walking over and was extremely rude and made my husband roll our diesel f250.down into the road and left him sit outside with no heat or phone service to call for help and said guests were coming and get out of there, on the post for rental it specifically states the property is left vacant for 48 hours between bookings and I stated this false advertising to her and she insisted it was vrbos policy and she had nothing to do with that well that's a lie! She was insulting, un professional, non understanding and so rude! Very unfortunate because it was a great property but that ruined it for her. Watch out people , pretty sure she enters the property when you leave too, think she might of done something to truck!
