Peace and tranquillity
We loved our stay at this gorgeous kiwi Bach in Peel Forest. Highly recommend to fellow travellers. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Surrounded by bush and listening to the birds sing in the trees is so peaceful. An easy place to relax and enjoy nature around you. Walks amongst the forest at your doorstep. The house itself was so cute! Perhaps a few more plates/bowls etc in the kitchen and the beds weren’t the most comfy. Perhaps toppers would be an easy solution. Despite this, we would love to return to the peace and tranquility of this lovely spot. Thank you for having us!

Classic Kiwi Bach In The Bush
Would totally recommend this bach. We had a wonderful stay. The place was spotless when we arrived, and organising access was nice and easy. It’s located directly opposite a beautiful bush walk which was great to explore when we first arrived , and there are plenty more tracks within walking distance. As per the listing it’s a simple and down to earth setup which was exactly what we were looking for

Rustic gem
Has a very rustic feel, a little Bohemian... But nice. Great fire. All the facilities you need, although internet would have been nice (for the daughter...). Peel Forest great for walks (and there is one walk entrance 20 seconds from the house), although DoC prohibits any dogs to walk in them (for understandable reasons, although one would think on-leash would be OK). Anyhow that's not the hosts fault! Very, very quiet. The garden is a bit unkept, fitting in with the surroundings, but a bit of maintenance would make it more attractive to sit in. It was lovely to stay here as the property was as advertised – I cannot say the same for other Bookabach properties. Before staying here, we stayed at a “Cottage” in Windwhistle (the Granary) that turned out to be 2 cottages conjoined by a paper-thin wall. Very noisy - neighbours clumping up and down creaky stairs next door, talking (you can hear everything), being woken up (at night and morning). Awful. Clients should be aware that once you pay and refunds are no longer easily accessed, it becomes really difficult to call/email Bookabach/VRBO. It's as though they don't want to communicate once you arrive & find problems (often difficult to realise problems before arriving...). Read reviews closely before booking... This does not apply to this Peel Forest property – it was very nice and no “surprises”. Recommended for peace-lovers.

Great weekend
Nice country cottage. Nothing fancy, but just what we needed to connect as a family and enjoy the nature. Wonderful birdsong. Wee bit of baby proofing needed though

Shabby Chic Character
Every need is anticipated in this lovely wee character- filled bach. As winter guests, we especially appreciated the hot water bottles, warm feather quilts, the fire laid ready on our arrival. Such a funky, quirky place: wins an award for the most incentive and helpful use of an old dolls carriage ever! So special to be in the actual forest, and one of the tracks actually starts literally across the road. Thank you!

Relaxed getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this sweet cottage in Peel Forest. The place was toasty once the log burner was lit and despite the ground outside never thawing while we were there, we were warm and cosy. The cottage has everything you need and Kris is a great host. We enjoyed bush walks, cafes in Geraldine and toasting marshmallows on the fire. We hope to be back!

Great Kiwi Bach
The property was quaint, clean and cosy (when the fire was on). The owner was very easy to communicate with. The house sits among the trees and the sound of the birds is lovely, however, this does make the cottage quite cold and dark. I imagine it is glorious in the warmer weather. Thank you Kris for being a great host.

Rustic cottage
Loved the old style of the cottage and the log burner. It was pretty awesome with the nature birds and bush, waking up to the birds singing don’t get that in the city. Loved hearing the rain on the roof, and comfortable spring beds, definitely don’t see them around much oh and drinking proper water without the disgusting taste like in Chch. Would love to go back some day. 😊

We found the house very comfortable and warm with having the wood burner. Beds were good and a useful kitchen. There was a good stock of wood for the fire.

Great place to unwind. Loved the setting and the décor but the bed was a little too bouncy! Please check the warming draw of the cooker. Could have done with some more bowls. We will be back some time!

Family get away
I loved the location on the edge of the forest and the fact there is no tv and our dog could come with us. It rained most of the time we were there but it didn’t stop us getting out there in the wet knowing we had a warm cosy home to come back too 😋 It could do with a couple more bowls for our family of five

Great to get away from it all...
A real kiwi bach, lovely log fire, birdsong all around and access to great walking tracks with waterfalls and native NZ forest. We enjoyed our stay here with walks, biking, reading, playing board games, drinking coffee by the fire and eating hot x buns over easter. Be aware the fridge is a small bar fridge only.
