Bangeston Farmhouse was completely renovated in 2010 and is the perfect location for a large gathering - whether it be family or friends.
Although fully updated with all the latest technology and conveniences, our farmhouse is at heart an old, historic building with metre thick stone walls and beautiful old floorboards. The farmhouse formed part of the Benagers estate and was probably the old coach house to the ruins of the mansion which can still be seen at the start of the unmade track heading towards East Angle Bay.
We fell in love with this area many years ago and stumbled upon Bangeston Farmhouse in a state of disrepair. Four years later, after a lot of blood, sweat and tears (and a rather large beard!) we felt we had done it justice - treading a fine line between environmental conversion whilst retaining the historic beauty of Bangeston. This part of Pembrokeshire is a hidden gem combining breath-taking countryside and coastline, but remaining mostly untouched. We are now a family of 5 (including the dog!) with a passion for surfing, kitesurfing, paddle boarding, cycling and gazing at the stars (beer-in-hand) - all of which can be enjoyed in this area. Freshwater West is around a mile away and it's only a short drive further to the beautiful beaches of Barafundle, Broadhaven South, Bosherston, Stackpole Quay and Manobier - these beaches are also dog friendly all year round. There are also many miles of coast path to explore within the National Park - the Pembrokeshire Coast Path being easily accessible from Bangeston. Based in the countryside at the end of an unmade track, our farmhouse is a beautiful, quiet and tranquil retreat after a day's activities. If you like a bit more hustle and bustle, the market town of Pembroke is just 15 minutes away - with its magnificent medieval castle and numerous cafes and shops.
Bangeston Farmhouse has 4 bedrooms sleeping 11 in total. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms - a master bedroom with king size bed and bunk room to sleep 4. The second floor has 2 loft rooms both with doubles and an extra single in one. There is restricted head room in these rooms.
A family bathroom is on the first floor and a downstairs toilet and separate large wet room on the ground floor.
There is a hand-fitted well-equipped kitchen, with hard wood work-tops. The kitchen is equipped with an integrated dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, coffee making facilities, blender, washing machine. It leads into an open plan living and dining room and sun room/games area. The farmhouse is heated with solar panels, a wood pellet boiler and underfloor heating. There is a cosy wood burner.
There is a (totally enclosed) south and west facing lawned garden, an outbuilding for storing bikes and boards, a wood burning hot tub, BBQ (Weber) and outside eating area for 12. The table and chairs sit in a corner that is a lovely sun trap. Some garden furniture is provided. Access to the garden is via a gate which can be bolted shut from the inside.
Although it sleeps 11, the house is perfect for both small and large groups and families of all ages. Dogs are more than welcome to come and stay too! We have done our best to create a stylish, well equipped and comfortable home, although we really bought it because of its special location near the dunes, surf and sunsets of Freshwater West.
If you like a hike and great food visit the award winning Cafe Mor an old boat/cafe that sells lobster burgers from the carpark at Freshwater West.
Thank you for looking and reading this far!
