If you like a traditional hotel, this one isn't for you. It's delightfully quirky and this is the second time I've stayed. You communicate with reception via text (and they respond very quickly) when you can ask for ironing boards etc. No coffee making facilities in the rooms although I did ask for a kettle on my last visit (we Brits!), but there's a lovely breakfast place about 100m away. Rooms are spacious with balconies and super comfortable beds. After 10pm (I think) the pool bar closes so it becomes very quiet. I love the staff here, all young and fun and eager to help. (Maybe an ironing cover on the ironing boards would be a good investment :) ).
Great hotel, comfortable beds, stylish decor, execellent tacos at the pool bar. Another benefit is the hotel is next door to Cartel Coffee and the Toasted Owl which is an amazing and quaint breakfast spot. Really good food! Will definitely stay here again!
The room is very roomy and the vibe is really good. Very strong retro 60s, 70s American style. The outdoor seats are awesome, I got lucky and have a room with a firepit outside, although I can't get it turned on.
I have three different go-to hotels in Phoenix, but this one has become my favorite. It’s got a charming mid-century vibe to it, and the staff is friendly and competent. Eating at the bar by the pool is a nice option if you’re by yourself. There is also a rooftop restaurant which I haven’t tried yet. There’s a coffee house on site, and immediately next-door are another upscale restaurant, a café, and a fun bookstore with a bar that has a trivia night. It’s a mixed used property that has been done very well.
I’ve stayed here several times in prior years, this year we got a room right below the rooftop bar and it was so loud. All evening until bar close we could hear chairs being moved around and loud thuds. The light rail across the street was also loud and we could hear the dinging from the train. The room’s rug was absolutely filthy with stains all over it. And we requested a record player (as they used to all come standard with them) and we got one that didn’t work with records that were badly warped. The pool lounge cushions could use replacing or a deep clean as well as they all looked dingy dirty and stained.
Hoping the Rise takes care of this stuff and updates some of the rugs and cushions to maintain the property. Normally i absolutely LOVE this place but this year it was sorta lacking.
We only stayed one night and it was an amazing time. We attended a concert in Downtown Phoenix, so this hotel was near the light rail and made it an easy round trip. Check was easy peasy. The room was aesthetically pleasing. We had complimentary drinks at the roof top bar, very refreshing. We checked out the next day and picked up our complimentary booze pops. It was a short, but fun filled stay. We will be back again!!
Pretty nice little place. Didn't get to use the outdoor seating and firepit area It was 108 degrees. The place is old. But the did a very nice job on the remodel of the entire place. I would recommend it.. Food at the place across from the office was pretty dang good also, and a damn good glass of tea.
On the Travelocity website, it said room service, well, there is no room service. I had to go to the restaurant for ice and an ice bucket. The TV was Apple TV which it wouldn’t take my log in info. I just wanted a little news. What topped it off was there was no coffee pot in the room and the place to get coffee couldn’t charge to my room, which would have been fine if I brought my wallet with me. For someone who just wanted to veg out after a long day at the hospital, it really didn’t suit my needs.
