Quaint old-fashioned (small room - if you're large you might not fit in the bathroom).
Uncomfortable bed (lumpy). And some construction or other racket at 4:00am.
Had a wonderful stay at Hotel San Carlos! Excellent choice if you're attending an event at the Footprint Center. Quiet in the hotel room, despite being in the middle of downtown Phoenix. Beautiful hotel!
There were no thermostats in the rooms. The temperature you get - is what you get. The pool was closed, they didn't inform any of us that this was going to be the circumstance. Very poor judgment considering the temperatures for the week were over 105 degrees and no thermostats in the rooms. This made it a very hot and not able to enjoy. The rooms were extremely clean though. The old building did have some charm.
The pictures are deceitful. This building is old, not updated, hot water scalds when a toilet is flushed anywhere near your room, musky smelling, ac doesn’t work, tvs don’t work, and evidently has a reputation. Would not recommend.
Rooms were small especially if you have large pieces of luggage. There wasn’t really space to set them up.
It is in a great location for sporting events such as Chase Field and Footprint Center. We were able to walk there with no problems. The staff was super helpful. There is no valet parking but paid parking about a block away.
The A/C was not that great and their pool was closed, which was one of the reasons why I rented a room, but I really loved the hotel, the staff, the history, and the location. I would like to stay again someday.
The ac is horrible. Not cold just cool enough to sleep it was 79 in the room.
Expedia did not mention construction or the pool being closed. The staff is nice. The restaurant off the lobby was very good. The hotel is close to everything downtown.
We stayed here for a concert that was at the footprint center. It was within walking distance and we love haunted hotels so it was a win win. We didn’t experience anything haunted but it was still fun. The staff was amazing!
This place advertised itself as having A/C but it does not. At 103 degrees , you really can’t sleep in that hotel. Too bad because it could be nice but it is rundown and not worth staying at.
Place was good. No separate ac units in the rooms so not recommend for the middle of the summer
If I would have known that prior I wouldn't have stayed along with the pool being empty and out of service.
