Very nice B&B with great views over green Umbria
The B&B is a conversion from what were historically Italian army barracks. The conversion has been done to a very high standard. Our hosts Diana and Alberto were exceedingly friendly and offered lots of great advice on where to go to see sights or have good meals. They also organised a wine tour for us and several other guests (this depends on season) which was excellent. When we arrived we were presented with a freshly baked apple pie and some fig jam (ingredients from their garden) which was very welcoming.
Silvignano is very quiet and peaceful. It has great views to the west of the green Umbrian plain and is in easy distance of Spoleto, Montefalco, Bevagna, Spello, Trevi and Assisi. Apart from hill towns there is also the possibility of driving east over themountains to the Piano Grande via Casteluccio and Norcia which is a fabulous trip.
One small hint: If you have really heavy suitcases or are not so good getting upstairs make sure you ask for a ground floor entrance room. There are several in the complex.
Also, although advertised as B&B it is actually self-catering. Our hosts provided us a few food items to get us going on day 1 which was great.
Overall we had a great stay.
