The Royal was much better before Hilton took over. The food quality is way down. The maintenance on the property itself is lacking. The staff was great but they are limited to their ownership. It should also be noted that the beach is nearly non existent. I have stayed at the Royal nearly 10 times in the past. We will find a new destination next year.

Property is well maintained. Very beautiful. My wife and I stayed at this location in 2014 and were disappointed that some of the personal touches in the room (slippers, towel animals,fragrance choice,bottle of wine, and liquor mini bar) were no longer there. Also the restaurants quality of food was disappointing. We went to 7 restaurants on the Property and I must say the buffet at Spice was the best overall food quality. Just to also mention the beach area has eroded away severely since 2014 and probably should be addressed soon before its completely gone.

We wish that the resort would offer eco friendly straws. We also wish there was a cheaper or free option for cabanas at the pool. We also wish the verity in the a la carte Menüs would change more often

So many things have change, not for the good!
Where to start! We have been staying at this property each Thanksgiving for the last 9 years. We had so many issues this trip. We had already decided that we wanted to stay 2 extra days when we arrived. We inquired about extension. You can no longer upgrade, extend or make changes at front desk. You must go through travel agent or Hilton's site. We had to call every morning & evening to have the hot water heater "popped off" so that we had hot water. Sensor in the vanity area went triggered the lights from midnight to 6:00 am. Restaurants closed & there was no warning. We had the TV replaced in our room. Had to call twice to front desk to get the new remote. It is just the little things that can ruin a vacation. I have already begun searching for our new favorite resort in Playa! Beyond disappointed this trip.

There was so much to do, whether it was to take a stroll on the beach, relax at the pools, enjoy the shows at night etc. The staff at the resort were all so warm and welcoming, always there for whatever our needs. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back!

This is a beautiful resort. We felt welcomed, and there was so much entertainment provided and amenities available, that we didn’t even need to leave the hotel if we didn’t want to. The restaurants were excellent and the hospitality was great. The only thing I have to say is that the hot tub in the room can use some disinfecting, because when we turned on the water and filled the tub, orange dirt starting coming out of the jets, which made me not want to go into the tub. We notified the concierge and they sent housekeeping to clean the tub the next day.
