This is my second and last Royalton check in… the first Royalton we stayed at was in 2016 the Riviera and it was very memorable. This trip was anything BUT what we expected in terms of accommodations, food and quality of service. I called in advance numerous times for early check in but upon arrival the best they did was check us in at 2 pm from a red eye flight they offer you a courtesy suite. The employees all seem miserable but if you book through Expedia they truly don’t care about you. Buyer beware! They offer you an upgrade via email but once on premises they cannot accommodate my adult children and ourselves had to share tiny beds. Room was decent but strange layout. We ordered room service which says wait 90 minutes and then they never brought it. The food quality is subpar and your best option is buffet. Customer service although they pretend to help they do not …inclusive of the check out process too. Everything is difficult and most people you come into contact with are not happy to be there. I don’t ever remember this being the case at Royalton in 2016 but this Splash just doesn’t have their stuff together. I am bummed to write a negative review but we don’t vacation often and this was not like anything I could ever imagine it being. The New Year celebration was probably my favorite part but I would not return. Cancún customer service was always very pleasant,it wasn’t at this place. Very dissatisfied sadly!

This resort is ok. The pools and beach area are good and the variety of restaurants was nice. Overall the service was just missing. Staff are friendly, but really not able to problem solve or give folks the high level of service the resort claims to offer. Every day we experienced something that was just confusing - no beach chairs in the Diamond Club area and no ability to fix it, spa reservations made through the app that were just rejected, no availability to book restaurants in the app, no late check out, no mini bar restock - and we heard many other families experiencing the same or similar things. Overall the hotel is ok, but if you are paying extra for the Diamond Club level of service or booking through Expedia with VIP status - we did both - don’t expect true 5 star service.

Overall, this property was just okay. It's big so it gets very crowded. The hotel hasn't figured out how to cater to so many guests. They were constantly out of stuff - like they wouldn't have towels so you'd have to wait hours, they ran out to pizza dough at the pizza store, the buffet wasn't always fully stocked, and there just wasn't enough staff to keep things going. We were here for 4 days and our AC in the room wasn't working well. They sent people to fix it 3 times, but it never got fixed. The coffee machine didn't work and they never fixed that. Overall - not very well run. The positive was the staff at the restaurants, pool, etc. were really really nice! And they did quite a few activities for kids and adults throughout the day.

The property was a bit dirty. The food was very below average compared to many others we have stayed at in the area of Mexico. Once you check out the staff is almost non responsive. Even if you have several more hours on property.
