Holidays in Praesto

As all travellers know — an adventurous life is a life well-lived. So grab your passport, pack your things and say hello to Praesto!

It sits close to a couple of the country's most popular cities. Head 150 kilometres southwest to explore Kiel. Alternatively, go south 170 kilometres to reach Schwerin.

Spend at least a few hours picnicking on the shoreline at Bellevue Beach or Falsterbo Beach.

You don't need to be stuck in a car all day to see some nature around these parts. Just 35 kilometres out of Praesto, Cliffs of Mon is an excellent place to kick back and relax. More delightful surrounds await at Nyord, 13 kilometres away.

Visiting the Pottemageriet Rodeled will teach you something about the local culture and the people who reside here.

If you'd like to expand your horizons, add a jaunt to Mern to your plan. This locality is 8 kilometres to the south and is home to Kulsbjerg and Noorbohandel. Need some more ideas? Tappernoje is 8 kilometres to the northwest of Praesto and offers Mogenstrup Kirke and Hammer Kirke.

Approximately 13 kilometres to the northeast, Faxe Ladeplads is a place with lots to offer. Faxe Kirke, the Asta's Verden and the Henrik Drent are close at hand. Keep in mind, Hylleholt Kirke and the Charlotte Clante may be more your thing.

Whether you enjoy the thrill of Michelin stars or nibbling on a snack from a street cart, tasting the local food and drink is one of the best things about travelling. So why not tempt your taste buds by trying some of the area's delectable offerings?

Eager to know some of the essential ingredients used in the local kitchens? Prepare to be served potatoes and pickled vegetables in quite a few of your meals.

Ask one of the locals what to eat in Praesto and frikadeller med kold kartoffelsalat (meatballs with potato salad) will probably be the first thing they advise. Flaeskesteg (roast pork) is another typical regional food you ought to try.

Still have a bit of room left after dinner? Then put in your order for risalamande (rice pudding), a delicious sweet treat.

They say life's not all beer and skittles, but there's certainly nothing wrong with kicking back with a cold one every now and then. When you're in Storstrom, make sure it's Albani Giraf Gold.

Craving something a bit more potent? You have to try out Gammel Dansk Bitter Dram Liqueuer. Ask the barkeeper if it's good in any cocktails and mixed drinks. Failing that, lift your shot glass and drink it neat!

There's a wine barrel full of reasons why you should sample Riesling or Silvaner. These tasty drops draw vino savants from near and far.

When it comes time to say "Se dig senere" to Praesto, don't fret — it will always welcome you back!

With some planning, getting to Kastrup Airport (CPH), the nearest airport, won't be too hard. It's just 70 kilometres to the northeast of downtown Praesto.
