The hotel is one of the oldest Puerto Vallarta, but it has been renovated, has great swimming pools and it's next to the beach, with umbrellas and beach chairs. The restaurant has great food and overall is great location in the heart of the romantic zone.

A few years ago I had stayed at this hotel before and had a bad experience. I had booked a room with an ocean view, but when I arrived, it was no longer available. They made me go up twice to rooms that were already occupied, and when I came back down, the woman at the front desk didn’t even apologize. Last week I decided to give the hotel another chance, but sadly, the experience was just as disappointing. After staying one night, I booked a second night through Hotels.com. When I called the front desk to let them know, a man answered with a bad attitude. He told me I had to come downstairs because assigning me a room wasn’t that simple, and that I had to check out at 12 PM and come back at 3 PM for check-in. He was rude over the phone and seemed annoyed. He couldn’t answer basic questions and was not helpful at all. Thankfully, when I returned, someone else named Jorge assisted me — he was kind and professional, which I appreciated.

This was my second stay at the Tropicana. Unfortunately,it will be my last. This resort hotel needs to invest money into new lounge chairs for the pool area as they are worn,dirty and held together with ropes, not to mention sagging and uncomfortable.The beach chairs are just as worn out and very uncomfortable. There are no loungers on the beach,only chairs. Once you are sitting in them good luck getting up if you have knee or hip issues.I had to ask the housekeeping staff to remove the curtains from my room as they were full of mold. I think the most positive experience that I had was with Ana at the front desk. She was kind,efficient and always had a smile on her face.Oh… and the invasion of birds and the poop everywhere needs to be dealt with. The umbrellas are full of it. If you’re looking for comfort while sunbathing, this isn’t the place for you!

We have been coming to this hotel for about the last 4-5 years now. It’s a great location if you want to be close to everything. It’s on the beach with a pool & a restaurant. Prices are super reasonable. The staff goes out of their way for the guests. The property is super clean. If I had one bad thing to say is most the rooms don’t have a fridge or microwave but that’s it. I love this hotel

Great location on the beach. Pool is crowded and have to arrive early to get one of the few lounge chairs. Good food at restaurant and competitive prices. Most staff is transactional and don't expect much friendliness, but the jobs are executed; need to double check accuracy for everything especially at check in, and don't expect any extra efforts or sense or urgency. Rooms are acceptable if expectations are aligned to an older property. We would return for the location and fair price but that's all.

The property is a little south for my liking, and the check-in/out process was lengthy. There is no soundproofing between rooms nor from the hallway - you can hear everything. But the rooms are clean and have good views. Definitely good value for the price.

Very ran down. No microwave, no fridge, no coffee maker.. ac quit working. Small bugs in room. Hidden fees and desk staff you into an upgrade based on a tip. Let front desk know about the issues they act like they didn’t understand. Reached out to Orbis to file a complaint and try to get moved to a new property and call was dropped. No response or reply.
