My apartment is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday, the enchanting sea and the extraordinary Sardinian culture. Located within a pedestrian-only residence, the apartment is easily accessible after leaving the car on the main road. In about 5 minutes walk you can reach the nearest cove of pebbles. It's a perfect starting point to visit the wonderful beaches of the coast up to Villasimius, easily reachable through the new road.
Just a few meters from the residence stands the Nuraghe Diana. The imposing work is attested among the nuraghi of Complex Trilobato type best preserved in the Quartese territory. In the chronological framework it is framed between the Final Bronze phase is the first Iron Age 1100 to 1300 BC. C. It can be seen that its architectural formula is implanted in a unique and exclusive project of realization. This constructive peculiarity makes it worthy of praise in its uniqueness, compared to the more frequent technique of installation; that other minor towers were then added to the primitive keep. Other building details that highlight the constructive ingenuity, are the boulders, placed in the upper parts of the same building, which occur in some parts larger than those below. This proposes a truly unusual technique in contrast to the laws that forces develop in overlapping loads. Another singularity can be seen in the main tower (keep) The upper part, of the false turn of the Tholos, has been rebuilt in another period, under circumstances unknown to us (perhaps a possible collapse) We could connect this condition to the fact that the complex for a long period has not been attended (still for reasons still unknown) and consequently then returned to use and debt to its usual functions. The distinctive entry to the nuraghe Diana makes it really valuable. The lintel and side supports have been constructed with heavy cyclopic boulders, which make it typical and resemble a Dolmen entrance. In particular, the architrave inside the keep is to admire the boulders placed as a crown. This frame enhances the constructive ability connected to offering also the visual architectural beauty. The unloading windows inside the keep are also noteworthy, the constituent boulders have been carefully selected and worked finely, to give it a precious look. You can then see from the photo, that the left niche of the keep, has the back wall broken and subjected to clandestine excavations. In their destruction, however, they have the merit of having excavated a very long tunnel close to an unexplored wall or walled area. Even the vain niche curtain called also vandal compartment has been subjected to clandestine excavations. The tombaroli who carried out these high-risk abusive excavations with professional workers were driven by the mysterious treasure that the nuraghe Diana kept with her damned souls, in the legendary Quartese folk tale. The masterpiece of constructive genius of the monumental work of the nuraghe Diana still faithfully reflects today, an identity that distinguishes the Quartese people for their skills and technical architectural skills.
