We're not ones expectinf a luxurious place, but try to find places to stay that are safe, have good AC, comfortable beds, quiet, and a reasonable breakfast. All of these boxes were mostly checked for us.
The staff was helpful for the few things we needed, the location was great as it was near the PNC Arena which we walked to for a concert. But due to the age of the facility, definitely need some overall attention. Our room was very functional and checked all the boxes, except you could see that there was likely some ceiling damage or potentially some black specks that could have been mold that had been hastily spray painted over to "repair" it. We were just there for one night, but it met all of our needs and we went into it knowing it was not a higher rated hotel. Breakfast had good choices, but the back door leading to rooms at the far end of the building had absolutely no closure to it so no security in the back of the building. So that definitely needs attention. Again, the people were helpful and nice, and probably wouldn't take a whole lot to just bring things up to a little better standard to at least to be a three star location.
