We stayed here around 10 years ago for a wedding and it was great. Although ‘ok’ now, the real let down was the bed - so uncomfortable to the extent that we barely got any sleep. It’s in beautiful surroundings but it’s looking tired and certainly isn’t the standard it was ten years ago. Staff on reception were friendly and welcoming. Staff at breakfast were indifferent at best. It served a purpose for us but sadly we won’t be rushing back.

This is about our 5th time staying at this hotel. Each time I have problems with room safe. Batteries require changing as DEAD, NO instructions how to use, unable to program, programmed but then wouldn't open. This time the safe was closed & locked when we entered room. Had to get staff to sort out. After 3 visits & about 30 mins it was sorted. But I shouldn't have to keep doing this everytime we come to this hotel. Also the wifi wasn't working properly. You could connect to wifi router, but there was no internet access. Not good when you need to check things to do with your holiday.

Overnight stay
Very nice welcome from reception and when room allocated wasn't suitable, it was changed immediately to what we wanted. Receptionist was very helpful throughout our overnight stay. The room was excellent, very spacious and beautifully clean, especially the bathroom. The only downside was very poor service in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast.

Brilliant hotel, one of the comfiest beds I’ve stayed in and I travel a lot, not what I was expecting with this chain of hotels. Thought I was going to be let down at breakfast but coffee is amazing, staff are great and so is the food! Definitely staying again!

Good venue
Pleasant hotel set in nice grounds. We have stayed here several times after visiting the theatre and have been able to have late night drinks in the bar.

Beware the cottage
Whilst overall the property is well kept the rooms are a little dated. Biggest issue with the hotel is the guest rooms in the cottage which are approached by a staircase which would give Sherpa tensing a run for his money.

We stay at the West Retford Hotel quite often as we visit my family in Retford and meet up with friends here. Every stay has been enjoyable.The hotel is very clean and the rooms well equipped and comfortable. The staff are always polite and welcoming. The events they hold here are well organised and the food is always good.All round great value.

Stayed for a wedding. Allocated rooms earlier than check in which was an excellent start! Rooms were lovely, comfortable and spacious. Wedding was fantastic - cannot fault this hotel at all. Highly recommend

We had a very pleasant stay here for 3 nights. The room was spacious and clean. We did find the bathroom a bit tired and dated but again it was clean. Plenty of secure parking. We didn’t eat at the hotel at all so are unable to comment on that aspect. Very convenient location.

Lovely room and welcoming staff. Had a very pleasant stay the only area of little concern was noise from outside the room. We could hear people in the corridors and other rooms but it wasn’t a big concern for us.
