More Info About Regional Express Flights
Hospitality and cheap don’t always go together, but Regional Express (also known as Rex), has it down to an art form. It’s the largest regional airline in Australia and well-awarded for customer service, but it doesn’t let bragging rights go to its head.
If you’re looking at the Rex Airlines destinations list, you may be surprised to see so many options around the country. The airline lands in over 60 destinations throughout Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia. Rex may be a regional airline, but it’s no slouch when it comes to options.
Baggage rules on Rex
Don’t make the rookie mistake of not weighing your bags ahead of time. The Rex Airlines baggage allowance always includes 7kg of carry-on baggage, which can include two small bags. Checked baggage goes up to 15kg for most flyers, unless you’re a Rex Flex passenger. If you have the higher fare, you can check up to 23kg.
But we know what you really want to know: Can you bring your cello on-board? Yes! You can bring musical instruments, surfboards and even bicycles. Some items can be checked, while your cello (or guitar) will need a seat of its own.
Check yourself before you Rex yourself
The Rex Airlines check-in process varies greatly depending on the airport. If you’re checking in at the airport itself, you need to check in at least 60 minutes before departure if you’re flying out of a major city, or check in 20 minutes before departure at smaller, regional cities. That said, online check-in works the same way no matter where you’re located: it opens 48 hours and closes 60 minutes before flight time.
