Charming house in the old town near the sea - sunny rooftop

Our 2-storied family house is located in the picturesque and lively historic centre of Rethymno with its Venetian and Turkish architectural styles, while the sea is literally just around the corner.
From the ground floor, stairs lead up to the first level where the bright living area with sofa, Smart-TV, radio/CD-player, air-conditioning and Internet access are. The large space invites you to linger, and from the balcony you can watch the going-on of the original and lively neighbourhood. Next to the dining area you will find the open kitchen, which is well equipped with fridge, cooking facility including oven, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and juicer. On the same floor you will also find a WC with washing machine.
The 2 air-conditioned bedrooms as well as the fully equipped bathroom with bathtub and WC are located on the second floor. The bedroom facing the street is equipped with two single beds (90x200cm), which can be used as a double bed on request, air-conditioning, a writing desk and provides a balcony. The other bedroom to the back of the house has a double bed (160x200cm), air-condition, a private veranda and access over an iron staircase to the large roof top with view to the Venetian fortress “Fortezza” and the sea.
The rooftop terrace is a great place to relax in the open and is equipped with an umbrella, 2 sun beds and dining table.
For the few colder days of the year, we provide radiator and fan heaters as well as air-conditioning.
Enjoy authentic Greek neighbourhood living in a well-tended, comfortable environment where we kept dear old elements and furniture and combined them with modern life-style equipment and amenities. This balance between old and new adds a special charm to our house which we equipped with loving attention to the detail.
You reach the long sandy beach, which has been awarded with the Blue Flag, in a short 5-minute walk. The Venetian Harbour, other sights, museums, small shops, supermarkets, cafes, taverns, restaurants and bars can be found in the immediate vicinity which may be audible on the side facing the street.

A flexible self-check-in and -out can be arranged, but we are glad to welcome you in person.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private balcony. A kitchenette is outfitted with a stovetop and a microwave. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a Smart television is provided for your entertainment.

Great place in a European vibe Greek City
We thought the place was charming. The location is perfect. It's on the street right behind the main street so not as crowded and situated in the middle of other shops and apartments. Be prepared for stairs though. We actually kept our suitcases on the main floor vs the bedrooms. Also, the street is not driveable after 11am. Google maps put us on the street at 10:30 pm. Yikes. But it was all good. We got free parking at the Marina the whole time.

Great apartment in Rethymno Old Town
We had a lovely holiday staying here. Excellent location for Rethymno Old Town. Great outdoor spaces - balconies and sunny roof top. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. Communications with Katja, the host, were friendly and efficient. We hired a car and parking at the port was straightforward - we were able to park in the free section most of the time. We’d love to return!

Awesome location
This house was amazing. We totally loved everything about it. I would highly recommend it. The owner was sweet and kind, as were all the people in Greece. Everybody's honest and kind. We drove right to the door dropped off bags and then parked the car at the marina very close by. This is definitely the place to stay in Crete. We were in Athens, Leros, Santorini, and several small Islands including Patmos, but I think this one was top on the list. All of Greece is Very safe, no guns which coming from the USA was a pleasant experience no crime. Everything's within walking distance. Lots of shopping right outside your door one street over probably 50 wonderful places to pick to eat. We also had a fun Excursion with the jet skis only a couple blocks away. It was just fabulous thank you so much to our host.

A beautiful house in a perfect location in the old town. Katrin was a brilliant host; excellent communication and top tips for places to eat and park our hire car. There was a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge too which we very much appreciated and enjoyed. The balcony off the sitting room is a great place to people watch in the evening and the roof terrace is fabulous to watch the sunset. The bed is super comfy and even though the property is in the old time it is very quiet at night. Thank you Katrin for making our stay perfect!

This is a perfectly positioned house in Old Town Rethymno. An easy walk to the beach, shops and abundance of local restaurants. We didn't have a hire car - excursions can be booked from 'Evas tours' opposite if wanting to explore further afield and there is a taxi rank in the nearby square. The house itself was a delight and all the amenities were clean and in good condition. Katja, our host called to see us when we arrived to make sure we were happy with everything. We had a lovely holiday here and hope to return.

A very nice townhouse in the old town of Rethymno. A perfect location both for enjoying the town itself and sightseeing western and central Crete. Rethymno itself was a very pleasant surprise; beautiful architecture, great restaurants, and a lovely seafront.

Beautiful place right in the town of Rethymno. And only a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Great place right in the heart of the town. Could walk everywhere and only 5 minutes from the beach, great restaurants and shops all around. Two balconies and a rooftop deck were great for relaxing and eating together. The restaurant directly across from the apartment does play music into the evening which can be faintly heard in the bedroom closest to the street, but with shutters closed, it is faint. Katja was a great host and came by to provide us with a list of places to visit and restaurants to try, which was very helpful! Truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back!

A really well-equipped, clean, modernised, spacious house on the edge of the old town, near the very long, sandy beach. Katja, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. The roof terrace is lovely, with great views of the harbour. Everything is in walking distance, including great places to swim off the rocks to the west of the fortress. The street can be noisy at night but the double bedroom at the back of the house is perfectly quiet. We had a wonderful week.

We had a wonderful 11 nights stay in Katja's beautiful house right in the middle of old town Rethymno. With 2 balconies, a private patio and an outstanding roof terrace each of us could find sun or shade to suit us at various times of the day. A super host with nothing being too much trouble Katja was a wealth of local knowledge and we wouldn't hesitate to approach her again. There was so much to do in the town and so many places to eat we only used our hire car twice to explore further afield. It's clean, it's safe, it's central, it's well equipped and the area super friendly - I would return in a minute. Beaches, Walks, Cycles or lazy days amongst the wealth of small local shops and an evening of cozy family dining or lively cocktails with good music and stunning views, it's all there for you. Only points to note which did not affect us are the stairs are steep if you have any mobility issues and parking the car near the house can be a challenge, although the twice we moved it we got lucky on our return. Our second visit to this property. The perfect base for a holiday in Crete.
This house is right in the busy heart of the town, but once inside it is a haven of peace - with the option of a roof patio to enjoy a view over the sea. Very extensively equipped, reliable wifi, excellent air conditioning and comfortable beds! The owners have extensive local knowledge and recommendations to share. You can be sure of a great holiday experience.

A wonderful apartment in Old Town Rethymno
We enjoyed a wonderful week in Katja’s apartment. The location was awesome - 5 mins to the beach, on a street that closed in the evening just to pedestrians, walking distance to all the sites in Old town. We felt very comfortable walking around area as it felt very safe - even let the kids go out and explore on their own! The apartment itself was even better than the pictures showed - very clean and well set up with the little things you need. We really enjoyed the roof top terrace for the views - in the early morning to see the sunrise over the marina and in the late afternoon/evening for enjoying a glass of wine or dinner. Katja and Michalis were excellent hosts, very easy to contact both before and during our trip. The apartment was a perfect home base for our Crete experience and would recommend it to anyone who is considering staying in this area.

We arrived to carafe of local wine, fresh fruit, and small sample of local raki. Host was very patient in directing us to location via, phone, text and email as we drove into town. She provided excellent restaurant recommendation. We were able to work off much Greek food and drink negotiating stairs. Great balconies and roof top terrace. Also provided good map of town and region with personal notations of places to see and eat so we could make the most of our 5 days.

Wir waren 4 Wochen in dem tollen Ferienhaus (2Wochen arbeiten- super W-LAN- 2 Wochen Urlaub). Das Haus war perfekt, die Lage super am Rand der Altstadt, Läden, Tavernen und ein kleiner Supermarkt in unmittelbarer Nähe, zum 16 km langen Sandstrand nur 5 Gehminuten. Die Gastgeberin war super freundlich, hat unsere Transfers zum Flughafen organisiert und uns viele Tipps für Unternehmungen gegeben. Bei unserer Ankunft warteten schon ein paar Kleinigkeiten, eine Flasche Wein und Obst im Kühlschrank! Die Wohnräume haben alle Klimaanlage, was manchmal bei zunehmenden Temperaturen im Juli sehr angenehm war. Und die Dachterrasse war an den lauen Sommerabenden ein Traum! Ein toller Aufenthalt, vielen Dank an Katja für dieses perfekte Arbeits-/Urlaubserlebnis!

Traumhafter Winterurlaub
Wir waren 6 Wochen von Mitte Januar bis Ende Februar in diesem wirklich schönen Stadthaus in Retymno. Alle Erwartungen , die wir in Kenntnis der detaillierten Objektbeschreibung hatten, wurden erfüllt, alle Räume sind gemütlich eingerichtet und es fehlt an nichts. Besonderes Highlight ist die große Dachterrasse mit einer traumhaften Aussicht auf‘s Meer, den Ort und die schneebedeckten Berge im Hinterland. Die Wintersonne ist schon so warm, dass man sich tagsüber gut auf der Zwischenterrasse auf der Ebene der Schlafräume und der Dachterrasse aufhalten kann. Frau Haffenrichter stand bei Rückfragen jederzeit zur Verfügung und hatte viele Tipps für die Restauration, Exkursionen und Besichtigungen, die wir gern genutzt haben. Die ruhige Lage des Hauses empfanden wir als optimal für uns im Gebiet der schönen Altstadt, nahe am Meer und an allen Geschäften des täglichen Bedarfs. Wir als die wenigen Touristen im Ort wurden überall sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit empfangen und bedient. Mit all diesen positiven Eindrücken können wir jedem Interessierten einen Urlaub in diesem Ort und dem schönen Haus empfehlen, und dies auch einmal zur Winterzeit. Wir kommen gern wieder. Wohnung war genauso wie in der Beschreibung, alles sehr gut. Tagsüber auf den Balkonen oder der Dachterrasse zu sitzen….einfach super! Und Abends empfiehlt sich ein Bummel durch die Altstadt oder der Strandpromenade entlang. Empfang durch die Eigentümerin sehr nett, alles problemlos, genauso wie die Übergabe am Ende des Urlaubs. Empfehlenswert!
