It lies 120 kilometres east of Rome, the national capital of Italy.

What could be more soothing than spending some time strolling beside the water? Organise an outing to Serapo Beach or Montesilvano Beach if you're looking for a great day out.

You won't need to journey too far to see some splendid natural sights. Load up the car and follow the road signs to Abruzzo National Park, 19 kilometres away from Rocca Pia, for a laid-back day. Or perhaps Terme Varroniane is of more interest? You'll find it 50 kilometres away.

The snow-capped landscapes of Campitello Matese Ski Resort and Forca d'Acero Ski Area offer plenty of thrills and spills for powder fiends. Hire some skis and carve up the varied slopes.

There's even more to see and do just down the road. Pescocostanzo, 6 kilometres to the east, is popular for Rivisondoli-Monte Pratello Ski Resort and Campo di Giove Ski Resort. Though, if Roccaraso-Aremogna Ski Resort and the Monte Pratello Gondola are more appealing, go 7 kilometres southeast from Rocca Pia to Rivisondoli.
