There was nothing to dislike here. Everything was perfect. We decided we needed to walk so we went about a block where my husband’s favorite, sheinsoxen, was on the menu. This hotel is on the wine route in the Alsace region. A beautiful part of France that I would highly recommend giving it a day to visit the beautiful villages. The countryside is lovely too.
We arrived at 2:30 pm and no one was there. We came back once the attached restaurant opened at 6 pm to get our room. It was far from the Bodensee but a nice place to stay.
Many thanks to the staff and mostly the chef. My wife and I were staying at the hotel and were quite intimidated to the fact that we spoke no German. During the dinner time meal, the Chef was the staff member that was taking care of us because of our limited (none) communication skills. He took the time to talk and get to know what we were interested in as well as where we were from. He showed us different attractions for sight seeing, even those little known about accept to the locals. Many thanks for helping to make the stay more relaxing.
Fantastic host and a very friendly family run hotel, where nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very welcome and we will definitely be back. The location is a small village with literally no other hotels or bars but this made it a quiet and relaxing place to stay. Try not to look at the cute domestic rabbits out back... they are considered future food, not pets! The village is about half an hour from Friedrichshafen, so if you want any supplies to nibble in your room, best get those in a larger town.
Stay was spoilt by failure to advise of restaurant closure on night of arrival. No staff present on arrival but key left out to gain entry with Instructions in English which was helpful. Hotel and room were clean and tidy.
On arrival I was told the room was double sold , but an alternative hotel had been arranged. This turned out to be a pleasant surprise, so all ended well.
One of our least favorite stays during a 34 day tr
My husband and I stayed one night here in June 2013.
Pros: Breakfast included (just OK, no fresh fruit). Good restaurant. Accepts credit cards. Cable TV with English CNN. hairdryer. Non-smoking. Free parking (but limited spaces). Can cancel up to day of arrival.
Cons.: Closed Wednesdays. Hotel "Reception" is located at the bar. No elevator. VERY small room (unable to open our suitcases and have any room to get to bed). Very small bathroom: Only one person at a time can get into the bathroom (so-so lighting, walk-in shower). No A/C (room was hot). Poor cell phone reception. Extra firm mattress. Surcharge for internet.
I would not recommend this facility nor stay here again if in the area.
A memorable experience; the hospitality from the owner chef was wonderful. Our only criticism was ithe Gastof Adler was difficult to find; although the Gastof was in the wider district of Salem, it was infact two villages fromthe centre of Salem. Go through Salem in the direction of Weildorf; turn right in the centre direction to Beuren. The Gastof Adler is in Beuren. It will not disappoint.
Good service. Took pains with non-German speaking guests. Close enough to Lake Constanace while being a reasonable price. No air conditioning, but this is pretty much standard to stay in a real hotel and not a modern box.
The staff were extremely good and made allowances for our lack of any German. The chef came and discussed the menu with us and gave us French fries one night when we did not feel like a heavy dinner. VEry quiet village but close enough to Lake Constance to appreciate all the facilities there. Would go back if the opportunity arose.
it was the most unpleasant stay in a hotel I can remember. It was as pleasant as staying in a funeral parlour. The hotel owner was one of the most cold and unfriendly and unwelcoming people I have met in a long time. I felt nervous and unwelcome. The hotel owner exuded zero warmth to her guests, at least to myself a middle aged female. The hotel owner lady needs some education in the art of hotellery and how to make guests feel welcome. I stayed one night less than planned as I could stand the atmosphere no longer.
