Things I liked about this property: first and foremost, the staff was AMAZING! So very helpful and super friendly. They truly try to help with everything. Securing taxis or other transportation, food and things to do recommendations, and help with directions. Most but not all of the front desk staff is English speaking. The property itself is beautiful. The hotel is a historic building with lots of wood floors and gilded mirrors. Very attractive.
Things I disliked about the property: no air conditioning and not a super safe area after dark. We were in Santiago in summer proper. It was 92F. Therefore, it was very hot in the rooms. The hotel has portable coolers to put in the rooms, but they are not super effective. They are much better than nothing, and they definitely take the edge off, but they are not AC. You also have to put down a $100 deposit to have one in your room which you get back assuming you don't break the machine. The weather does cool down at night and you can open the windows, but it is loud in the city, so sleeping with the windows was not an option for me. This hotel is located very near the city center, so during the day the street is bustling with lots of people. After dark, it's a bit scarier. Even during the day, one local cautioned us to not go a certain way around the block because there were "Robbers and pickpockets" that way. If you stick to daytime hours in the populated areas, you are good.
